@Pixeltim and @Thatbassguy thanks for the info, I’ll probably join in on future trips then once more of my parts arrive.

What about comms, preferred method? Tim can on string or something else? Just trying to choose best first thing for a trip like this and I don’t have other friends who do this stuff to match to. Ultimately I’m doing HAM but I’ve got too much other crap to buy so trying to get something to start for this WI group.

Judging by the amount of Windrock trails I managed in my taco on 32s and stock suspension.... You'll be fine.

Gmrs (low wattage, sub 5) is your cleanest cheapest com option.

Most of us run CB but GMRS has been picking up fast.

My problem is I never take notes or mark when find nice trails. I always figure I’ll just remember.

June 10th is out for me unfortunately, but if thats when yall end up going, take good notes!

You don't need to spend too much like others have said most can be done in Stock form. But more upgrades = more fun!

As of now we use CB for comms on the trail, some of us have GMRS also.

Absolutely join us! It's just a good time with like minded people and some fresh air.

    4wd is for… um…

Let me put it another way. Back in the day (it was probably a Saturday, but that’s not important right now) we were out looking for trouble and a friend tells me that we should just use 2wd and save the 4wd for when we get stuck. He claimed that going crazy in 4wd only makes you more stucker when you get deep into it.
He may have been proven correct on occasion.

As mentioned, CB is popular right now. I'm sticking to CB until everyone else is on GMRS.

Don't worry about mods. Stock Tacos have been all over the Pipeline. And, the T.W.A.T is just a scenic drive in the woods. You'll be fine.

    ^ Agreed.

Here is my Tacoma from three years ago on the pipeline - stock tires/suspension, no armor other than the stock skid plate. While I didn't intentionally tackle harder obstacles (nor should I have), it was perfectly capable. That said, modifying our 4x4s is part of the fun.

Don't know about you but, I have a fear of getting high centered on the speed bumps in our Wal-Mart parking lot.

Those speed bumps are no joke. I was going 10 mph one day and got stuck and BOOM! Destroyed driveshaft, and all kinds of dents and scratches all over the truck

That’s why I absolutely refuse to go to Wally World. The place is deadly!
