I'm going to say it right now.

The OP can't build anything himself, and generalizes how things are really built.

The OP doesn't understand critical components in suspension and how they have to meet critical specs, certs and functional criteria to be road legal.

The OP doesn't know anything about business, staying in business, and growing said business.

The OP will eventually suck it up and spend his whiny money to buy UCAs like the rest of the world.

I paid $450 for mine right before they went to the one piece design and there is literally no difference in those and the one piece besides the one piece. I have the same inner bushings and BJ.

Actually in the US there really isn't any testing or regulation on this stuff. But if you don't want to get sued or be liable for a major fuck up you do it right.
    Agree with everything else said.

You're right. As long as they slap a sticker on it saying it causing cancer to the citizens of California, it's good to go.

THIS is a very well thought out & likely quite accurate representation of why items like aftermarket Beefy UCA cost what they do. Do we like how much they cost? Of course we don’t - but that’s what they cost in this day & age.

everyone wants sausage for cheap but no one wants to really see how the sausage is made or make it themselves.
Op - I hear you. You’re upset that these cost “too much”. But I don’t think you are taking into consideration how much raw materials cost these days and how valuable a proven design & all the math that goes into a proven, wheel-worthy UCA design. It’s way more than just a bent tube & a uniball cup welded together. I say this after barely dabbling into metal fabrication and welding & seeing all the R&D that goes into a total chaos UCA or even better - a @jdfabrication UCA who btw offers different preset geometry’s based on your needs. That’s SLICK. And it ain’t cheap running a shop like that. Not even close

    Niche market.

A can of Coke is cheap because they sell billions each year.

    UCAs. Not so much.

    And?

So is more than half the stuff folks buy and bolt on their Tacomas.

UCAs are relatively LOW IMPACT.. Beef is not really necessary unless you are a prerunner or a race truck. Mall crawling tacos dont need "Beef" UCAs.

LCAs on the other hand take all the impact so beef is required.

Why are you not out in the shed making your low cost UCAs already, instead of arguing a mute point with strangers on the interwebs?

This should answer your own question above.

Certs are not required or specs to be met. DOT doesnt check nor do they car about UCAs... so again.. no need for the extensive upcharge

Don't put too much faith in shops or DOT regulations

So, again to you UCAs are a easy job and there is no needed criteria to meet, so no reason it should cost what they do.

Get out in the shed and start knocking em out. Show us whats up.
