6 miles. 4 on app just a day before. Not sure why it was driven around 2 miles to get full tank of gas. Paper on passenger side floor has shoes marks... so 2 guys went to get gas!! It was not in the mood of argument... Also, I asked to change an accessory which dealer confirmed via email but did not happened.

I'm sure the supply chain and chip shortage will abate, but...we still have 7+% inflation on everything, which might be about the difference between MSRP and what one would have paid in the past (if I'm being generous). So, just to recoup that difference, less than MSRP prices seem unlikely. Of course, the 2023 models will likely have a much higher MSRP to reflect inflation (I would guess more than 7% increase because they are late to the MSRP-increase party (i.e. MSRP for 2022 was set long before anyone knew we'd have such high inflation and thus was trivially higher than 2021 prices) so they first have to recoup the unexpected 2021-2022 inflation and then add on the known 2022-2023 inflation). So, if they bump MSRP by 10% for the 2023 models, sure, you might get one for less than MSRP.

This is also why I think that now is one of the best times to buy a new car and sell an old one. Used car prices are priced daily based on the market and inflation; MSRPs for new vehicles are set well in advance and unchanged for a year and thus have fallen behind. Sure, we have to pay an extra couple thousand (e.g., MSRP instead of $2,000 less than MSRP), but that is a small percentage increase compared to what has happened to used car prices over the same time period.

A lot of valid points, the issue is that cars are the main driver of inflation. If we get that under control then inflation won’t nearly look as bad. In my opinion the fed will be looking to not prop up stocks and we will see a drop there as well. Same with housing.

i bet if i took a poll in here, 95% of the people in here didn’t get a raise as high as the estimated inflation. Eventually, the market plays itself out as people can’t afford to buy these high end items. The only way to drown out inflation is push the markets lower, housing is unaffordable in a lot of areas…. New cars are at that level as we speak.(used are actually worse as crazy as that is)

Cars / trucks are a volume game, as much as these companies are trying to claim they want to change the market to factory orders- nothing beats having inventory and selling the add ons, and the more cars/trucks sold the more there service department is working and bringing in big money as well. Dealership networks are designed to sell as many as humanly possible even if they’re not pulling in sticker/ above like they are now. Big money is made in other areas of the purchase/service.

Cars are not the drivers of inflation. We had crazy disruptions to supply chain and then gave a bunch of people government money and allowed them to work from home which cut daycare and commute expenses. People aren’t just saving their money they are buying more goods from a smaller pool of them so the law of supply and demand has driven up prices… that paired with disruptions in Eastern Europe…

Of course it’s driven by cars - energy / housing / cars the main driver

They simply used statistics from government sources. It wasn’t an opinion based piece.

used/ new cars are certainly at the tops on the inflation scale- obviously housing and energy are main drivers too. Again, if we can get housing , cars and energy to drop with less demand, we’ll be closer to normal. It seems the fed is pushing in the direction as well, looked at the stock market lately?

Energy is the basis of any economy. Everything else is dependent on energy costs directly or indirectly. As soon as the energy policies changed in January of 2021 it started the upward spiral of inflation. It is a lot easier to start inflation than it is to end it. It also takes a lot longer to end than to start.

I agree with another post just before this in that there is no better time to buy a new vehicle and sell a used vehicle than right now. During inflation you don't want to be holding cash, you want durable goods!

Put my $1000. down on an Army Green trail edition on March 31 and just heard from my dealer that it is scheduled for a May 2 delivery from San Diego via train to St. Paul.
It was the only one in the twin cities area that was not spoken for, and I assume it was a cancelled pre-order, because he said it would be gone the next day if I didn't take it that day.
Was I too trusting or was he being honest, I don't know or care, I want that one anyway.

Next day? more like 5 minutes. While he's talking to you the other sales guys are talking to their customers. I have been called on several cars and while i "thought about it" for 10 minutes they were sold.

So watched this and someone in the know (he;s an industry insider) posted that around the 18:50 mark that the Asian brands as a whole will soon be raising msrp and or refaced or new models will have msrp raised by 12%. Honestly can't see how they haven't done it already as I believe ford has 3 times in less than a year.
