Not sure why, but my real-life knife toting friends are giving me a hard time for buying one with serrations. I love having the added aggressiveness when needed.

I only have a few knives with serrations (Bugout, Mini Grip, Kershaw Blur), but for some tasks they are just better. Yeah, they are hard to sharpen, but I don't use them enough for that to be a regular issue and there's plenty enough cutting edge for what I need. One of my buddies who does IT work, will ONLY carry knives with serrations. Different tools for different jobs.

Exactly, and I have this weird obsession with collecting and studying sharpening equipment (mostly Japanese whetstones), so I'm set when it comes to sharpening the serrations...I had a cheap stainless steel blade last, for about 3 years, and only needed to touch up the serrations once, to your point.

Yeah, you're good to go. I'm not good at sharpening, but my local shop will do it for free so that's a win.

I don't make fun of you for being an asshole, so don't you make fun of me for my hobbies either! jkjk

I'm also a fine woodworker, so I don't mess around when sharpening a $60 chisel.

I was quite sincere. No disrespect intended. Sharpening is an art. I am rather poor at it. But, I completely appreciate the skill and variables involved.

Oh, I figured you were! Yes, it took me ruining (and then fixing eventually) many edges. With chisels, I still use a jig because I am way too human to trust the consistency of my hand/arm placement.

Serrated bugout is so underrated. Its so helpful. Especially on an ultra lightweight knife, theirs not much serrated edges lightweight.

Not really much of a serrated fan. But they can be useful for rope or other small stuff. I own a couple of knives with serrations.

Sharpening is another of those religious wars. I learned to hand sharpen on a stone but I use the Wicked Edge system today. I tried the lower cost Lansky which many like but didn't like it. Some folks will sharpen to a mirror finish. That's overkill for me but if you like that, do it.

There's nothing quite as relaxing as sharpening a tool on a whetstone. So when someone says they collect and enjoy that, I can understand. Kudos.

You aren't kidding. Shoot, there are even "wars" around atoma vs DMT vs shapton, etc. And let's not get started on diamond, ceramic, whetstone...How do you like the Wicked Edge? Now that I can sharpen most edges by hand, I'm less interested in it and would rather work smart vs hard.

I can't get a knife sharpened on a wet stone I screw up with the angle. I'm looking at one of the consistent edge sharpening systems but don't know which one..

stones require constant practice. The WE is easy and I’m less likely to make a bad decision:)

I chose wicked edge but there are any number of similar systems. Like Lansky and others.

Finally got my grinder wired up and worked up a sweet little knife profile. Now I need to set up my surface grinder that I’ve had for 8 months and never touched. Lol. My heat treat oven is still 4-6 weeks out so I’m tying to find a knife maker locally that will help me heat treat this one. Also picked out some nice desert iron wood for the scales.
It’s a nice feeling seeing my first handmade knife come together.
