2nd Gen Unlock/Lock beeper

Hey y’all, I’m just wondering if there’s any mod out there that changes the unlock/lock sound from the actual horn going off, to the newer models beep. I would prefer the beep a whole lot more than the loud horn everytime I try to unlock my truck. Thanks!

I don't believe 05-08 had a beeper (or any audible feedback) for the remote keyless entry, if it's honking the horn it's likely an aftermarket alarm system.

Mine has never beeped.

 

Beeper doesn't show up on the wiring diagram until 09 so I would venture to say it's not there on 05-08.

 

I just have one “horn”. So I doubt I ever had it.
I never looked into it. I don’t like the beep. So I was happy it wasn’t there.

 

the high pitch beep coming out of your car is coming from inside the front of your grill. (if equipped and not every truck has it)

just unplug it and call it a day

 

If it’s the actual factory horn that is blowing.
Then he won’t have a horn. And some states require the horn to work by law.

It would be better to find what ever it is that triggers the horn and disconnect that.

Even better would be find out what horn is blowing, and if it’s the same one that the the steering wheel uses.

 

do you have the pos aftermarket karr alarm installed as i do?

 

My 08 never had any type of audable alert when locking the doors. I actually added a Piezo buzzer under the hood. There's a mod thread burried somewhere in the forum if you search for it.

I have this one, and if i hit the trunk pop button before hitting the lock or unlock, it doesn’t beep.

I just posted this in another forum. I heard it is an aftermarket setup.
