In all the posts asking suggestions for tire selection I have never seen a tire both praised and vilified like the KO2. Color me confused.

I think it really depends on what they are being over for. They wear really well so you get lots of miles out of them that’s good. They have good road manners and are fairly quiet. They do good on dry trails and sand. If the pavement is wet they go down to about 3 maybe 3.5 stars. Snow and ice you may as well be on slicks. In any kind of mud they pack up instantly and don’t clear at all so again you would get the same performance there as you would with a road tire. Personally I would not buy them again and don’t understand why anyone would love and call this an excellent tire. Maybe someone with that has had great experiences with them can share why. Also I had a tread separation of one so I replaced them at that point and lost confidence.

All my friend have different tire and i can say i like mine more. I opted to stay stock size because i don't see the advantage to ride on bigger tire but since i do work sometime in factory area with a trailer i choosed the E load. I can feel them at the acceleration but when you cruise it's perfect. Long ride on highway i put around 35 psi, in city around 30, and in the wood or rough trail between 25-30. I don't mind playing with the pressure i have a good suspension so it's the little + i can get to ease the ride. They are not "noisy" the catback have the main role for this departement, some say that when they wear the noise get worse i will know in a few year, i only have around 6000 km and still at 15/32 thread. I got them for 239$ CAD each last year. For that price it was a no brainer.

The con. They are slippy, on wet road you can break the rear easy. They are 4 season but i can say in Canada it's a no no. You can last till maybe late November before switching, on snow it's ok ishhh but on ice it's useless, they get very stiff at cold temp.

There so many option and scenario where other tire can be better, i understand when people dislike them, for me the Ko2 is a Jake of all trades, master of none, good in city, do the job in the wood/trail camping stuff, quiet enough on highway and i do maybe between 17-18 MPG average in the summer with them which is good because it's an extra 72 lbs (4x wheel+tire) i add on drivetrain when i switch from my snow tire mounted on OEM wheel. When the defrost start and all the road have pothole i feel like a tank eating them like nothing. I think i can do 9 more summer with them if i treat them nicely so i think i'm on the praise them side for now !

They are great tires, strong, good weight, great in most conditions, look good.
I’ve had zero issues with hydroplaning. Drive the speed limit you’ll be fine. Ran them this winter over the Coquihalla Hwy and they worked fine in the snow. Ice any AT or MT is going to be not that great, compared to a real winter tire
If I was trying something different I’d go with a Nitto or maybe GY Duratrac.
