    Hello fellow Tacomaworld members,

    let’s get straight to it..

ordered a Anytime Backup Camera with the premium camera, for my 2017 Tacoma
Wired it up per the instructions (photo attached)
    The front camera works great!
The rear however…does not at all (whether by switch provided or putting the truck into reverse) - all that I get is a blacked out screen.

I tried switching the RCA’s, then all I got was a front camera when the switch is in reverse, and a black screen when the switch was forward.

pins within the harnesses provided seem taught and none were pushed out.

am I missing something here? Lol

figured due to it being Sunday (and time difference since I’m in Hawaii). I may have a better shot solving this today instead of a possible response by email tomorrow.

    thanks in advance!

i actually watched this guy prior to install, and last night when I was in the “wtf did I do” moment haha

the ONLY thing different he did was power his camera wire. Per the instructions it said not to for the premium camera. I can’t see how that could affect my reverse?

edit: I didn’t power it on the side closest to camera (like how he did). I followed the instructions where the RCA side has a red wire, and ties into the green

Called the company today and he said it seems the problem is coming from my relay side
New relay wiring on its way

Okay - got the new relay in the mail yesterday and it works exactly as it should!

i had also ordered the 6.5 ft extension cable for it, but found the quality of the cable was rather poor..the pins were not in the correct order and fitment wasn’t the greatest. After modifying the cable I was able to get it right

anywho, it’s up and running, and I mounted this camera for my Rigd tire carrier. I can always unhook the carrier, and camera and use the stock tailgate one whenever I please

Mine is basically doing the opposite. No matter what position the switch is in, the view is always the rear camera. It worked fine for a few days, now it's not.

the quality of this kit is definitely not the best..
I really don’t expect it to hold up over time/wheeling

how old is your kit? maybe one of your connections was bouncing or RCA cables disconnected?
I electrical tape wrapped the rca’s to prevent them from separating

Mine is maybe a month old. My problem seems to stem from the relay. It doesn't always switch over

I guess I'm going to have to go through all the connections and verify everything is good. Good ground and power
