Yeah, it’s crazy. In late 2019, I test drove a (wait for it…) a 2020 TRD Pro in AG, but the dealer wanted almost $15k markup…

I have no use for roof rails but I may add them anyway because they do look good.

I just check the dealer that I bought my 2022 ELM from and they have my trade, a 2019 TRD Pro with 36k, listed for more than I paid for it new and more than I paid for my 2022.

15k markup seems insane in 2019…seems normal in 2022….will it be cheap in 2024?!?!?

I did. I bought in 2019 for almost 10k under MSRP and they gave me 3K over MSRP for it. And I didn’t pay what seems to be the standard markup for this area (10k).

Not so sure about that. Banks rarely, if ever finance over appraisal. That means people are coming out of pocket to make up the difference on all of these market adjustments. I don't see many people willing to walk away with that much skin in the game. I guess time will tell though.

Also, If you think is bad now, see what happens when the feds finally get that 15$ minimum wage increase pushed through. I'm not even against it but its hard to ignore the shitstorm that will follow when it does.

I placed a deposit on an EL Pro in October
Was called in late Feb to say my truck was being built 3/30

Was called 3 weeks ago to be told my dealer lost my allocation due to production cuts, but I’m still first in line for the next one they get but they have no clue when or if that will be. It’s frustrating.

Rumor has it MSRP's on Asian brands will be going up across the board for this year and any new or refaced models will have a 12% average price hike next year. So new Tacoma if 40k will now be 45k next year. So either way people will be paying more. I suggest if you like this model year then grab one while you can. Tacoma's don't depreciate much before pandemic they certainly won't in the future.

This stuff makes me wonder if they are telling everyone the truth and not just selling it off.

When you place deposits did they have it allocated and did they give you a temp vin? If not then they never had it allocated in the first place. You were just in line with everyone. This kind of brings up what I mentioned before what’s to stop someone from going into the manager and saying here’s $250 to move me to the fro t if the line there’s another $250 when the deal is done. Happens in other industries and car industry is as crooked as they come.

It's happened at my local dealer but they had the original buyer involved and he sold off his spot and went to the back of the line all over again.

that was my exact mind set…that’s why I have a deposit in but I hope the dealership honors the msrp when I paid the deposit.

Mine was done over the phone, but I had them give me a picture of a receipt for my deposit along with a full price breakdown for out the door price over email.

My dealer sent me a purchase agreement that was signed with an out the door price tied to that VIN number of the truck that I'm getting. There's really no reason for them not to do the same thing for you and if they come up with some big excuse why they can't do that I'd probably look for another dealer. You don't want to be waiting till the last minute find out your dealer screwed you then have to start the whole process over. It's completely reasonable to ask for that.
