Catalytic Converter Protection | MillerCAT Cat Shield

I ordered March 9. I got a tracking number the same day. UPS delivered yesterday March 15.
As mentioned above, I am missing one screw. Things happen. Just waiting for @MillerCATCorp to reply

 

I am guessing it would be best to remove the TRD Skid Plate prior to this install? I cannot imaging getting the the long bolts to line up without having a hand in there to steady the mounting plate on the cross member. ??

 

I don’t have the skid plate, but can confirm you’ll want as much room as you can get in order to get those long bolts to line up. Took me about five minutes of fiddling to get all three lined up.

 

i have an off road stock front skid that also has the back part. Pretty much thinner version of the TRD but two pieces.
To answer your question, I did not remove the rear plates but trying to hit them plates holes above the cross member was a B!!!!
I few F bombs here and there but I got it done

Well this is getting a little ridiculous now. I finally get the screw and it’s the wrong head. My key is a for 6 point star(left). The one you sent is a 5 star type head (right)

Received yesterday. Well packed. Nice presentation and looks better than I thought.

I need to check the contents of the hardware bag.

Perhaps do some knuckle cutting this weekend if the weather holds.

Installed the Millercat aluminum skid. I’m impressed with the product and the install was straightforward, all hardware needed was included. I did add 2 pieces of pipe insulation for potential rattles, one on the passenger side crossbar and one on the driver’s side where the top corner is close to the frame.

 

I just ordered mine but forgot to add the discount code.

 

What size pipe insulation did you buy? I may buy some too.

 

I think it's 1", just some I had laying around. It doesn't completely wrap the cross bar but doesn't need to, its wedged in tight and has been rattle free.

Okay everyone, just got the shield installed. I can confirm that it fits without issue when you have a Spindle Lift.

I know they said that the shield does not fit with most lifts because it modifies the cross member but I have confirmed that this fits with a Spindle Lift.

@MillerCATCorp I'm not sure if you want to post this anywhere on your website as a confirmed lift that it fits with, but for those of you wondering, 2WD trucks are in luck.

 

Just installed mine, here's my notes:

1. Instructions call out a 14mm for the diagonal braces, but it was a 12mm on my truck. No big deal.
2. Front holes on the main plate needed to be drilled out a little for the front bolts to fit through. A 1/4" bit is all you need, but check before you start the install.
3. Getting the front bolts to start with the side panels installed (where you can't reach to adjust the plate on top of the crossmember) has got to be frustrating. But, I didn't try, I left the side panels off at first. But you can't get the passenger side panel installed with the diagonal brace in the way. So . . .

My recommendation on installing:

1. Check the front holes on the main bottom panel, drill out if necessary so the bolts go through smoothly.
2. Skip the step of installing the side panels for now.
3. Remove the diagonal braces on the truck that go from the rear crossmember to the frame rail, as in the instructions. I used a 12mm, you use whatever your truck has.
4. Using ONE bolt, install the rear of the main panel along with the diagonal brace, but do not tighten all the way down yet, allowing the brace to rotate and swing out of the way.
5. Place the front plate with the rivet nuts on top of the front crossmember and get the front bolts started, allowing you to adjust the position and hold the rivet nut plate in place from the side while you get the bolts started. Looked easier to do from the passenger side since less is in the way. Do not tighten all the way, just make sure they are started.
6. Now connect the side panels to the main panel. The driver's side can be done with the diagonal brace in the way, but the passenger side cannot. Just swing the brace out of the way. You can tighten these all the way down at this time.
7. Get all remaining bolts started by hand. It's important that nothing is snugged down yet so you can adjust the position of the panel to get all holes lined up and bolts started.
8. Tighten all bolts on the rear (the diagonal brace) to specified torque.
8. Tighten front bolts to specified torque.
