I don't blame you. It's pretty gross down there. I live in Henderson so I can admire it from a distance and not have to smell it...haha

    COOL Stuff I can't afford . . . But I bought anyway!
Finally tackled the braided brake line, threw in new set of discs, drums, pads and shoes. What a pita!

now, question, does anyone know how to adjust the parking brake? The truck used to hold fine in D or R on flat ground and in N on a slope. But now it won’t. I adjusted the parking brake adjuster as far as I could without making it impossible to get the drums on. But it still isn’t holding well at all. Does anyone know how to get them back into adjustment?

Go im reverse and hit the brakes a bunch like in an empty parking lot. They should (self adjust)

That will adjust the star wheel on the drums (move drum shoes closer to drum hat) not the parking brake itself.

Correct, and in doing that the shoes should not have to move as far to contact the drums.
Shouldn't that help the parking brake also?

And then a little adjustment on the E-brake cable under the truck or on the. E-brake handle its self

I don't know about the tacoma, but the parking brake usually has a separate set of "shoes" or pads. It's been a while since I've done it, but some have a clockwise or counterclockwise adjustment on the cable itself.

Yea Ive had a few cars like that.
In his pic it looks like one set of shoes.

Could always put the rear axle on stands, spin the wheels by hand and adjust them till they drag a little.....

No difference for you is interesting. Big difference on my truck. Hmmmm
I can block the plate lights so there is no shine. Camera changes purely with the headlight switch, has nothing to do with the plate lights.
    Wonder why yours doesn't?

Oh well. We've beat this horse to death. I appreciate that you shared what happens on your truck. Cheers for all of that.

(I'll just continue to turn off my headlights with the switch when backing up. It's easy & free. And my DRL are still on (& fogs if I need them) so others can see me.)

Hmmm... Do you have the light sensor on the passenger side dash tweeter area? Maybe it's the radio display going into night mode from the headlight switch? Mine dims and brightens based on that light sensor rather that the headlight switch position. Just a thought, there are so many little differences between trim packages.
