Got some dukes there. Kind of weak leaving the helmet on, but still. Great final restart!

We'll see on Tuesday. Both were called into the hauler after. Both seemed oddly cool after the fact also.

Apparently the 1 shoved the 54 going for the cash. Gibbs didn't intend to fight Mayer, but ended up snapping, which likely only occurred because of their history. Both said they talked and are good now. This according to both of their interviews afterwards.

I like Gibbs but he already has people against him simply for being Joe's grandson. Give it time, he'll learn about the aggressiveness as others teach him. But, he's a nice kid. He needs to settle down before his whole career walks down the same path as Kyle Busch. Busch does a good job embracing it, but he doesn't have much of a choice. Gibbs still has lots of time to turn it around.

Can’t ask for a better night at the track (in spite of the rain, wind, and cold). Gonna be colder tonight.

We drove up yesterday. Stopped to visit with The King on the way. Kiddo got his cast signed and we sat outside his shop chatting for a while. You don’t get these kinds of experiences with the newer drivers. Richard Petty is a great ambassador for the sport.

Race was entertaining. Hotdogs were good. Camping is solid (outside the backstretch, with a view).

Man that Gibbs kid has everything (everyone?) going against him. He’s got a mean right hook, though. Nice lunge to land the hit.

I don’t see how Gibbs could be upset with Mayer’s move. It’s exactly what Gibbs did to JH Nemechek to win at Richmond. This time they were going for the $100,000 bonus. Fair game. I like it.

The kid is your typical spoiled brat that thinks he entitled. No doubt he has the fastest car every week, no reason for him to drive people the way he does. Then when it happens to him he can't take.

Based on their interviews afterward, he wasn't at all upset at Mayer's bump and run for the $100,000. Gibbs even said, "I was on the other end of it last week." It sounded like he was upset after getting doored and put into the wall afterwards. But it sounds like he didn't know the 10 put the 1 into the 54's door and it exploded from there.

I delivered UPS to Petty's shop for 10 years. Richard has always been one of the nicest guys I met. He would always stop and talk for a minute.
