If you look back about 4 years ago, I said I do that. Always have, always will.
This isn't about blinded camera. It's about camera settings between hl switch or off. NOTHING to do with tag lights!

Any chance you could do a quick write up on how you wired it up? Speaker wire color front and rear? Where did you get power and remote turn on from? What are your amp settings ( crossover ect) I think there are a lot of guys that would love to install this amp but it is a bit confusing if you have never done an install like this. It would be much appreciated! Thanks

I think that sensor is only on the trucks with auto headlights. There is a filter piece there in ones without it. That explains his screen dimming with the headlight setting for night mode vs changing brightness as needed based on that sensor.

Did the new KDmax-PRO + tune today.
    Absolutely love it.
Noticeably more balls on the lower end shifting is smooth.
Dave @TWTaco is great as usual.
I highly recommend KDMaxx tune for these Tacomas.

That explains it. You could try keeping it locked in day mode to see if you like that better.

This may be an option for people to try. Since @TartanEagle has the SR it may work differently for him. Mine with automatic headlights doesn't give the option for DRL or fogs at night without running lights being on which makes the tag lights shine on the camera. Its either off, auto (which turns all running lights on at night), fogs (which also turns on all lights except headlights) and of course the "on" position. When I back in my driveway (which I do every time) at night, I will NEVER turn off my lights. The way people drive I am not going to give them the opportunity to run into the side of me and claim my lights were off. I did put the shields (that cover a portion of the opening) on the license plate lights that help by knocking off some of the light from them at night. That works good enough for me. It's not like I need to see through the camera to drive down the road so the fact it's not perfect backing up is not that big of an issue.

Icon stage 10 with extra leaf config Leitner ACS forged with two small gear pods, one large gear pod, two fuel rotopax, two water rotopax, caliraised molle front bed wall rack, highlift mount, onboard shower, cutting board tailgate face, molle rack above rear passenger seating between handles, Uptop overland Alpha cab rack, FSR evolution RTT, Method 703 wheels, Nito Ridge Grappler tires, Outerlimit Supply first aid kit and mount, fire extinguisher, solar panels and solar generator, 23Zero Peregrin 270awning with walls, window visors, Lock’er Down steel console safe with combination lock.. more coming soon.
2.75” from the suspension plus another 2 or so (not completely sure) from the wheels and rims upgrade. The major difference is the additional leaf in the back. With that extra 600 pounds of caring capacity this suspension is writing as though it’s unloaded. And sits very high beyond the aforementioned lift inches. When fully loaded, it’s an overall gain of about 5 inches.

Actually with the 285/70/17 tires it’s about extra inch of clearance. It’s going from a 31” factory tire to a 33” tire. One inch difference from center of hub, if that makes sense.

    Nice looking rig BTW!

so hypothetically speaking... if i was installing my Total Chaos bed stiffeners and the top Toyota supplied bolt sheared off and i needed to get a replacement... what would the dimensions of said bolt be? or is my best bet to just go to my local dealer and beg them for a bolt?

    (non sheared bolt shown)

My recommendation would be to pull the one from the other side, visit a fastener store and replace all of the bolts.

I got an extra one for you, look to be the same size as used for the stock engine skid plate. Let me know if you want to give that a try, would be that oem look. They look identical to me.
