Your dad ever have a steering wheel knob that when you turn it the clothes came off?

Strictly speaking, there were no 'lenses'; that was the bulb. Those were all sealed-beam units.

I had a couple cars with sealed beam headlamps. Was a pita to replace when one died. I did a H4 conversion to one of them.

Nice! Lots of time driving a Studebaker with one of those. Would have enjoyed a stripper one.
(I still have an ink pen that strips when clicked.)

No wonder there were so many cars going off the road when the road was straight.

Silly Rabbit. Didn't use it going straight down the road (unless my girl was beside me - then it was for other reasons I went off the road).
I used mine when maneuvering tight spaces and for in reverse.

They were (are?) illegal in many places. Justifiably I'm sure.

Edit: oh crap! It just dawned on me that you were prolly referring to the driver looking at the nudie instead of looking at the road --- and not because he was using a steering knob.

So along this line of stripping steering knobs...

The B-727 had a cap snapped into the center of the flight control yoke. Every bird I worked ('bout 11 yrs worth before we got rid of that death trap), every yoke center cap had a porno photo taped inside.
(Two different airlines, neither in business today, but still best if I don't name them.)

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
I would pay big money to have that today!
