If the catch can is working well (some/many don’t), how is that the case? Hole idea is to stop oil being forced back into the intake.

Some oil vapor will inevitably make it through but a fraction of what would normally.

Even a good catch can only catches a fraction of the oil vapors from the PCV. It’s enough to at the very least keep the extra oil from forced induction down to NA levels or better.

Magnuson TVS1900 Supercharger with 87mm pulley, Catted OVTune dumptubes, Doug Thorley 2.5in y-pipe, custom mufflers, 76mm Tundra throttle body, 5.29 Yukon gears, JamesT custom fuel rails, Yotawerx 87mm tune, Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 suspension. And some other stuff.
Here are my impressions after driving with the Maggy on for the last 5 days:

Setup: Magnuson TVS1900 with the 87mm pully, 33" skinnys (255 85R16), stock gears, MRDB exhaust, Stock intake with carbon filter removed

TLDR: I really freaking like it.

I drove the truck around for about 50 miles before doing any pulls. I was surprised that the driving experience wasn't as bad as I expected. While it isn't as good as OVTune the gear hunting isn't as bad as it was stock. Though it does sometimes toggle between gears in an annoying way. I worked my way up to WOT. At just 3 PSI it is definitely noticeable. On the highway going 70mph I would normally run at 3K RPM to climb hills (I live in Appalachia so it is very hilly here) but with the SC it runs at 2K RPM @ 3PSI with no problems. From a stop WOT will chirp the tires. Once it even chirped in second gear. With the 87mm pully the PSI is 8PSI at the top of the RPM range. The power is very noticeable. It is not a race truck but it took this neutered dog and gave it back it's balls.

I put it on a dyno yesterday and measured 291HP at 5986RPM and 265 FT/Lbs at 5232RPM in third gear. I am not well versed in dynos or know if this is true but the dyno tech said it would probably be over 300 WHP if they did it in 4th gear. One pull did reach 300 FT/Lbs though the HP was at 285HP. I am not sure if that was a bad reading or not.

The install took me longer than most, maybe about 20 hours but I was in no hurry. I did a few extra things such as new spark plugs, boost gauge install, and oil separator. Getting the bolt off the main idler pully was definitely the biggest PITA and the oil pump spacer was the second biggest PITA. Best advise I can give for the idler pully is to get the biggest impact wrench you can and put some PB blaster on it well before you try to get it off. I was able to do the install 100% by myself. Putting on the compressor section was challenging to do by myself since it has to be lifted a bit on one side to line up the bolts.

Overall the expense was worth it to me. I didn't count every penny but the total cost (not including some of the tools I bought to do the install) was about $7600, which includes the boost gauge, oil separator, new spark plugs, new air filter, fluids (oil and antifreeze) .

can't speak for the refinements @mZiggy is working on to improve every aspect - but I can speak for the drivability of the Tune I am presently testing. Awesome. Shifting is as expected - precise upshifting and downshifting and heads above the revised Maggy V7 (which I tested for 1/2 day and could not bear any longer). MPG is higher than Maggy tune. Skinny pedal is responsive without having to apply additional use. IMO the only way to run the Maggy tune for us AT people is in S mode and only use D when on the highway and at highway speed. YW tune allows full use of all modes (S and D) as you would expect is should from the factory. Once Marc is done and ready to release the YW Tune I am confident the users will be satisfied and appreciative.

Hey anyone on here running 33in tires on 5.29 gears in an automatic that can share their experience driving around before and after the supercharger? I am currently shopping around for quote to get gears. Would like to see how the truck feels after just gears? Then I may want to slap a SC on the truck and wonder how it will feel? Thanks!

Pretty much the same feedback and experience here. I didn't have an issue with any of the bolts though. The hardest thing for me was aligning the supercharger by myself due to all the wiring crap getting in the way.

Did the install in about a week off and on during the evenings.

What are you guys getting for MPG? I just finished a ~1,500 mile trip. I had 3 people in the car and it was fully loaded with gear but we only averaged 13-14 mpg :/

Besides the blower truck is basically stock on 33s

Looking forward to the YW tune.

I did the following mods in this order:

Stock tires to 265/70/17's (so about an inch larger diameter)
Stock tune to OVTune then to KDMax
    Stock gears to 4.88's
    KDMax tune for 4.88's
    Supercharger
Upgrade to Method 702's (an inch wider) and larger rubber at 285/70/17 tires.

The truck is an absolute joy to drive, best it has been from the beginning. The part I did not expect, was that the last wheel/tire upgrade made driving better. I expected to lose a little power and expected to be able to notice. Instead, the 285's seem better paired with the gears than the 265's were. Add more power from the Supercharger and she screams. I just did Moab over Vail pass fully loaded (6800 lbs) and the truck didn't skip a beat. Full send. Worst of it was holding 5th at 3200 RPM to make power for half a mile at a time under the most demanding conditions (elevation mostly). Previously the truck was a complete pain in the ass on any highway travel, let alone over the passes. Even with gears and KDMax tune.

My Maggy v7 tune seems to be way more responsive than others are reporting. I wonder if some of the KDMax table edits survived the Maggy flash? Since Maggy doesn't attempt to fix all the same things as the community tunes, is this a reasonable hypothesis? I am sure the Yotawerx tune will be better. Anyone with the KDMax tune that went with the SC and Maggy tune seeing something similar?

MPGs are 12-18 depending on weight, elevation, speed, and skinny pedal use

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels

I got mine from URD and didn't have to wait. But that was this time last year. Who knows what supply chains are doing to Magnuson as of current.

I don’t know for sure, but if I put my truck back to stock, it shifts terrible again. So I don’t think it retains anything from a previous tune’s shift points.

interested in knowing about meth injection. What are the benefits other then cleaning and keeping engine cool? Who makes a kit for our 3rd gens?

@Isay0526 Meth injection is great at reducing the charge temperatures and preventing pinging. As well as great to keep the combustion clean, which also helps prevent pinging. I am also very interested in more information on these systems, as it seems like great insurance against trouble. My concern being WOT for extended periods of time towing at speed up mountains. Also seems it is insurance against a bad tank of gas, causing damage.

Historically these systems were underdeveloped, and unreliable. My understanding is that they have since come of age, become reliable, and are common to extreme boost engines. Though this statement is from reading a couple of turbo books, and I do not have specifics on any system to share.

In our case, it may not be a necessity, but I am thinking it would allow for a slightly higher boost, without added risk of detonation damage. For instance, installing the smaller pulley on a Maggy, with way less concern for causing trouble. The logic here being that in boost, we are enriching the fuel mixture to reduce combustion temperatures, sort of wasting some fuel as ping prevention; so if we increase boost without changing the tune, we are leaning that mixture and increase the likelihood of pinging. BUT adding meth injection, goes back the other way, towards preventing pinging. Bottom line as I understand it, is that with meth injection, you can run leaner at a higher boost. So you can take advantage of the ping prevention from Meth injection, to either increase safe peak boost, or to increase fuel economy at a given boost (requires leaning the mixture to actually get the increase in fuel economy).

Very interested in what others have experienced!
