I tried to research all this, but I don't trust myself, and I don't want to order the wrong parts, so I figured I'd ask the Oracle that is the Ontario BS Thread:
From what I read, the widest/biggest tire you can fit on a '17 TRD OffRoad (stock suspension) is 265/75/16 or 265/70/17
But how wide a rim would fit? Say 17x9, with -38 offset, with 265/70/17 tires ?

Or will that rub? I don't mind putting in spacers, I actually like the 'skateboard' look :anonymous:
Is there a shop in the Hamilton area that would actually be able to advice on this (and not just pull up tirerack or something like that) ?

Technically, 255/85r16 is the biggest on stock wheels. Once you get into offsets, it's a crapshoot

Factory offset is around +30mm. -38mm offset means the centerline of the tire will be about 3" farther out. The tire won't rub the suspension, but will rub the fenderwell plastic. If you like the look, then get your cutting tools ready :)

3" lift. $10K in TRD options. Richie's semi-hidden bumper, and soon his Elka suspension
If you put spacers on with stock tire size, they will rub (mine do a bit). Try to avoid pushing the tire out too much. there seems to be a "hump" in the mud guard that will catch the tire if it's pushed outboard....
I have a set of 285/75R17 that I'm going to put back on without the spacers to see how they do. With the spacer, they eroded their space into that mudguard hump.
Been to shitty out to do it in the driveway and I didn't feel like moving the hot rod that's been napping in my garage for the winter.

I’m running your exact wheel specs with 35x12.5x17. With a 265 and that wheel spec you’ll be having a lot of poke which will give you the issues. A 265 fits on stock wheels with no lift. As soon as you start pushing the wheels out you’ll run into issues.

The replacement Amazon front camera also lasted just one year. Time to try a different design. Picked up a Type S P/N BT530027 HD camera on clearance. It's the wi-fi version of the camera used by TRDTaco420, except the video goes to your phone instead of a separate display.

Wiring cleaned up. As before, I tapped camera power from the fog lamp connector at the bottom of the grille support. (The fog fuse was swapped out with a 5A fuse to account for the thinner wires.) The Certified P/N 020-6927-2 0.110" wide blade receptacles fit tightly to the connector pins.

Yes and yes. I wired the camera to the fog light connector, to turn the camera on and off with the fog light switch.

Ah neat. Otherwise it’s just getting constant power.

I have my stock camera in the rear but it leaves a lot of room for improvement. This kind of thing would allow some more flexibility. The stock harness to extend is a bit of a pain. Good to know this stuff is out there. Future is now I guess lol.

Nope, still 2022 wifi technology lol. This new wireless camera has a couple of major drawbacks that make it unsuitable as a backup camera:
    1. When you power on the camera or open the app, it takes 20-30 sec for wifi pairing to happen before the live video is displayed.
    2. There's a 1-2 sec lag, ok for crawling in 4-low, not ok when backing up.

Well disassembled the grill and put it back together with the other pieces. Looking t it I figure d I needed just a bezel and that main colour matched part. Once apart the main black piece was all cracked to pieces too. It'll all hold up for a while and looks pretty good.

I have an extra grill (just the middle piece) that I got when I purchased the whole thing from someone. Its got some flaky paint, but if anyone is in a pinch at least they will have a grill. Free for whoever wants it

I think I'm just keeping it safe, 16x8 with 265/75/16 , either Goodyear Duratrac or Cooper Discoveres - have not made my mind up there....

@TunedUpTaco i have a 16" -10mm with a 255/85/16 cooper st Maxx tires. adding a 2 inch lift help but get a heat gun as well and push all the fender plastic into the truck the best you can. Also no more front mudguards and you might need to trim some stuff further. With the SPC uppers i have pushing the wheels forward, no issues but its close.

Iirc you can get a 0 offset with little issues. But the moment you get into the negatives youll need to start playing around.
