I am trading my Malibu for a Toyota Tacoma 2007 TRD for 15k is this a good deal? I did inspections underneath has a layer or rust but nothing that I saw that was to concerning. The AC wasn't working tho like the light wasn't turning on. but it was blowing air but wasn't sure if the air that was kind of cold was from outside as it's still cold here in Michigan. I really like this truck.

Do you know if the frame has been replaced under recall or it is still the original? Will they provide a carfax history report? I would certainly do a thorough inspection of the frame rails seeing as its a Michigan truck. I take it is for sale at a small used auto dealer?
It looks like it has Off road decals on the bed, but a Sport hood? does is have the rear locking diff button?

I don't think it was replaced or haven't asked. Car fax came up clean it use to be a one owner from alberta canada. Yes it's from a small used auto dealer. I did inspect it from my amateur inspection I pretty much saw a lot of light surface rust. But I can add images on Monday I can reply when I go back to the dealer.

Yes can I can come back to your comment on Monday when I get to see the truck again. I'd gladly have your opinion on it. I have this one image of the back hitch which is a lil rusty.

Be cautious with this truck. The hitch can be replaced, but if that’s any indication of the frame, this truck is bad news.

Also take a look at your first pic again. That skid plate is off. Looks like maybe some rust in the front right next to the skid plate?

15k for a 15 year old “rust belt” truck. Hard pass if it’s me.

You really need to lay underneath that truck and do a full frame inspection. That truck looks awfully rusty just from the exterior pics of the underneath. Someone tried masking off and painting the lower lip of the tailgate to cover the rust and that's already coming back thru..
at $15k that truck needs to be rust free 100%

Thanks for your opinion. I will send more pics under the truck Monday. Now I am skeptical but the hitch isn't the same color as under the truck but still concerning.

637734107710905755.jpg Please do not buy this truck. From the pictures Ive seen online it looks like it has a very bad rust problem. Even the bolts that hold the seats down are rusted.

Aww man I knew it was too good to be true =(. I really wanted a 2nd Gen truck but recently researched about the bad under carriage rust problem. How should I go about looking for a 2nd gen truck? Obviously get one with no rust but my budget is 15k.

One thing that I just saw, thats a TRD Sport hood on a TRD Off Road. So either someone swapped hoods or the hood was replaced for some reason.

I really appreciate your help. I even went as far as putting a refundable $500 down payment until Monday when we did the paper work. I will kindly tell them that I will not go through with the deal. But if there was no rust 130k 15k for this Tacoma would that have been a good deal?

    Get that deposit back!

If the truck was clean, no accidents, mechanically sound, 15k is probably around the going value in this market. Good deal? That’s subjective. Would I pay 15k for the truck? No. If my budget was strictly 15k, I would go buy a lightly used Corolla and wait out the market.

If you want some homework, go look up the MSRP of that truck back in 07. See how you feel paying 15k for it now.
