I’ve had mine tuned and now 1st is real jumpy, feels like I’m learning how to drive again. I’m not complaining I’m just making up excuses for my poor starts.

Does anyone know the size of the bleeder on the slave cylinder? I did the dremel mod today and I need to replace the bleeder.

I tried searching but couldn't find anything

    I'm guessing it's a M10 but that's about all I found so far.

It is not M10 as it uses a 10mm wrench to fasten it. Likely an M8 thread?

Finished bleeding clutch this morning, took it for a test drive and wow! Such a difference much much smoother. Applying heavy pedal at higher rpm the shifts are much smoother it doesn't feel like my trans hates me and doesn't want to go into the next gear.

Sorry. Just that there are so many threads about this already.

It is starting to feel like a oil thread topic.

    Ahh I gotcha.

Figured it would be the best place due to MT being sorta rare.

w/o confusing the BS here in this thread, I'll just say that a new MT tune is coming soon from Yotawerx and you'll want to know about it. ok back to other MT BS.

You could start a thread and ask people which tune they’ve had done on their manual transmission.

Edit. The manual may be more rare but I feel that 95% of manual owners read this site. Also the bs is about the accumulator delete, like how do I dreamed it out or I used this line, etc.

Does clutch start cancel still work with this delete?

That would be impressive if Toyota were able to design a way to detect a missing accumulator and disable clutch start cancel or starting altogether. Then we would need a bypass for that like 2 low.

Finished my ADM last weekend on my 2nd gen. I am glad this went better for some of you Turd owners, but this job sucked for me. That stupid thing is tucked up in a terrible place with no space to work that requires all manor of various length sockets, socket extensions, angled adapters, line wrenches, and smashing your hands against sharp heat shields and other shit to get it off. I cursed and bled a lot, dropped wrenches on my face, got brake fluid in my eyes and mouth, and on top of that it went totally sideways for me after I stripped the flare nut on the accumulator despite 24 hours of pre-soaking it in PB blaster and using the proper flare nut wrench. I felt like I did everything right with tools, soaking the fittings, removing stuff in the way, but it was just a cluster for me getting that one flare nut off. Had to pull the drive shaft to get vice grips on the flare and finally break it loose, which I then subsequently used to overtighten the brass coupling, scoring me a trip the parts store in the midst of it all to get a new one. But I got it done.

For me, there was plenty of slack in the hardlines to just join them with the brass connector. If you really want to keep this mod cheap and simple, all you need is that $3-5 coupling from advance auto that was in the OP. I purchased a hardline, but in my assessment, quite honestly none of this bending new hard line, flexible stainless lines or fancy banjo bolt stuff was needed, at least for my configuration. This is in theory a super simple mod with lots of ways to accomplish it.

    20220401_151408.jpg

Not trying to ruffle any feathers here because I know this mod has a cult following, but after driving around for about a week, all I have to say this is one of the most over-hyped, underwhelming mods I have I done to date. Do my shifts feel better? Sure. Was it worth the hassle? Meh. Could have gone the rest of my life owning this vehicle and not known about it and been just as happy and ignorant. Can't honestly say I'd ever recommend to a friend. But that's just like, my opinion. It's done now.

I know there were a few folks looking to have accumulators milled and re-installed. I was thinking $25 shipped to anywhere in the US. I will include my hopes and prayers that your ADM goes better than mine.

Finished mine up yesterday as well. I wasn't expecting much due to some if the negative comments about it, but wanted to see if I could improve the sluggish clutch.

I will say I noticed a nice improvement. Shifting is smoother now that the clutch engagement seems to be more consistent and less lag. YMMV.

It is in the same spot on your Suckend Gen as ours. Same tight space.

As noted, dremeling the accumulator is free.

    Yeah
Do you have a long history of driving manual transmission vehicles? If you’re coming to a MT taco from autos you probably won’t notice much but I was raised in MT vehicles (and driving a truck as my job now) and nothing about the clutch accumulator was hype; it was more than a little annoying to me. I’ve literally only owned one auto my entire life and that was a race car with a turbo 400 (with full manual VB) so I’ve got a bit of experience with MT’s to say the least…
Not claiming the ADM was the best thing since sliced bread but all in all it was a huge improvement and made me enjoy all the types of driving I do more.

Also if you think that was a hassle just wait till it’s time to perform some general maintenance. 1 brace, 1 cover and you’re there, that’s not shit compared to some of the tasks these trucks require for basic upkeep. Engineers suck…

I have only ever owned manual trans vehicles in my 20 years of driving. I helped my buddy with a similar mod on his tiburon years ago and it's definitely was a huge improvement on that car. I just don't see what all the fuss is about on these trucks.

Maybe I am just salty because it sucked so much for me and I'll be less pessimistic after my knuckles heal. :notsure: I doubt it though.

Dremmeling may be free, but from a simplicity perspective, the process of removing the accumulator, modifying it, and then re-installing it in the same tight space seems like more work than just bending the brake lines and and slapping the coupler in there.
