I tried it out a handful of times and found that once it begins to roll back what sounds like the ABS kicks in and the traction control light comes on. If you hold the pedal for a few seconds it’ll start to roll back, make some ratcheting noise, a clunk and stops suddenly without myself touching the brakes.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, but that’s the traction control light. If I do this after stopping briefly it will continue to roll accompanied by the noise and lights but slowly.

My brother got me @SpikerEng hood struts shortly after I got my Taco. Finally got around to buying a rivet gun and installing them today. Install took about 35 or 40 minutes and was pretty straightforward. I’m glad I got a rivet gun that has a rotating head, made installing the rivets much easier.
Honestly, the fact these aren’t standard is kinda mind boggling.
Anyhoo, added about 6” of opening height. Highly recommend.

Those struts lift the hood really high!

I just checked mine and the prop rod doesn't clear my QuickLift Elite hood struts; it's maybe an inch or two below the prop rod.

Still, I'm glad I bought/installed mine about a month after I bought my Sport.

 

Well, I was in basically the same spot as you since the instructions on the site predate the updated product with the addition of the wings. I just did them oriented based on how someone else had installed them, but really I don't think either inside or outside would hinder their functionality. Although from the photos I saw, the taller end should be oriented forward (to the front of the truck/ plate) and the angle should be slanted outwards, rather than towards the inside. Again, this is just from what I saw in other photos. I used red loctite on my wings though so even if I wanted to switch them around, I probably wouldn't now. Frankly almost every thief is just gonna see all these plates/ metal etc and say fuck that, I'm moving on to the next vehicle. So I reckon it ought to be good enough.

 

Thanks for the reply. I also installed them curved outwards and tall part towards the front, so only difference from your install is that I put them on the outside. I also agree with you on a thief being discouraged once he sees all those plates.

 

There’s so much more headroom now! And, according to Spiker, you can go up to 8” on the height.

 

My 2021 AC MT has the hill start/ auto brake feature. It works quite well.

 

That's interesting. I haven't ever noticed mine doing that but then again if I take my foot off the brake and it starts to roll back I just hit the brake again. Usually I am in traffic so I don't allow it to roll back like you did when testing it out. I will have to try mine when nobody is behind me and see what happens. Appreciate you testing this out for us.

 

Hell, I love my truck! It's not perfect but it takes me to back-country spots where I thankfully will never see a full size truck or a ridgeline!

 

I just have the Redline Struts. They don't open up as high as some of the others but I'm worried that, if it did, my hood would hit the garage door... and that would not be good.

 

yeah, you've got a TRD Sport though. I've since been reminded that TRD OR's and Pro's don't because of a difference in the braking system.

Made some interior additions/changes, not sure they are all actually mods? Anyway, this photo shows the Core shifter, and a ball knob w/shift pattern.The steering wheel “T”, vents and control rings are de-chromed (door handles are hopefully in transit). You can see the reflection of the white/red map and dome lights replaced the yellowish stock pieces. The gage and radio screens are scratch free, with Protech overlays. You can see the passenger spot mirror, and the lower band of windshield tint. The grey floor mats help brighten the cab a little, and definitely have better coverage. The glove box and the console have dividers, but you can’t see them. The shifter has been the best change so far, it’s not a sports car linkage by any means, but the shorter throws and increased effort are great - the reverse gate is not going to happen unless you are trying for it.

I drove on them (literally frame on them) for two years. I like them a lot. They took away the body roll on the soft OR suspension. Basically when I added my cap, racks, constant load from some stuff I keep in a locked bin I was sagging a little. Now I’m on Eibach Pro coilovers and Deaver stage 2s and they are retained as extended bump stops. The 612-40s are supposed to have a little space and not make contact but with a LB and added weight I think they lifted the back end 1/2” when I installed. They are firmer when new if you hit a bump and make contact you will feel a rebound. That goes away after they are used for awhile, but they continue to support the 500lbs at 50% compression. Bonus I bought mine on Amazon warehouse deals for $120

I work on mine at the Auto Hobby Shop on Dover AFB. I'm a little concerned about the height too as I lift it to the ceiling.

It's probably got the clearance but I don't wanna chance it.
