Greetings All. I removed the RF passenger seat on my 2022 Taco, to make room for a communications POD for both Ham Radio and EmComm use. Problem is that I now have a solid SRS Airbag alarm and a flashing seatbelt alarm. The DTC code is B1821 which is understandable since the side squib is gone. Question is, how do I simulate that the seat is still there for both the SRS airbag and the seatbelt system. There are 3 connectors on the floor of which the yellow is the SRS airbag and the grey is for the seatbelt. The white connector is for the seat heater which is irrelevant. 2016 to 2022 are similar.
Any help on how to fool the system would be appreciated as Toyota does not want to help.
    Thanks

I suppose you could check resistance of the seat side connectors, purchase corresponding resistors and connectors, create a new harness with the resistors to make the vehicle think the seat is still there.
Though honestly not quite certain this will work.

DO NOT CHECT RESISTANCE OF THE AIRBAG CONNECTOR, YOU CAN DEPLOY THE AIR BAG.

Hard to deploy a airbag when theres no voltage.

Multimeters send out voltage when set to ohms.

Maybe @caribe makaira but I would probably harvest the tech from the seat and plug it in somewhere somehow.

I will repeat what @mlcc has already clearly stated...

NEVER EVER PROBE AN AIRBAG WITH A MULTIMETER.

NEVER REMOVE THE SHORTING CLIP INSIDE THE CONNECTOR.

AIRBAGS ARE DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE WORKED WITH IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WORK!!!!!!

This also includes the seatbelt buckles for the front seats, they are also an active restraint system!!!

Could you just remove the back of the seat and use the bottom as a shelf ?

Are you completely removing the seat? Or, just temporary for the installation? Chances are you didn't remove the negative terminal on the battery, and set off the code? You can try removing the negative terminal for over 15 minutes, and then try hooking it up with the plugs connected. Otherwise, it might be an error code reset only in tech stream. @tonered

Here is another thread on Ham Radio that may give you some mounting ideas. Good luck with your project.

    Yeah
Should be a 3.0-3.3 ohm resistor to spoof the SQUIB. Idk about the seat belt connector though.

I’m curious what kind of radio setup was installed that is so massive it requires the passenger seat to not be installed.

No "passenger" means a modified SRS deployment.
    Unplugged SRS harness = DTC's.
Of all the electrical items in the vehicle to not modify (fool) SRS is, in my opinion, one that should be left alone.

To measure resistance the meter is going to apply a voltage to the circuit.

I'm envisioning one of those antennas that can nearly hit overpasses and has the coil spring at the mount:D

My butt puckers when I read airbag electrical mods,,, and given the gurus are out, my fears are confirmed. If OP ends up modifying anything and needs dealer help, you should know it's almost certain dealers will not modify or repair anything airbag related, they will only replace wiring and other devices which can get extremely expensive quickly.

Even the batmobile has a passenger seat. If you have to delete the front pax, you might want to take a minute to reflect and ask yourself if your truck really needs all that stuff.

A simple install is a happy install.
