well shit.. I didnt realize the Apache Res stretched out so far west and north.. I dont think we'll be able to pass through. I wanted to get to and travel along Canyon Creek, because it flows through some awesome looking terrains scenery.. lots of deep canyons, some caves, other cool stuff.. but the only section that's in NF is at the very top near the 260 and not a lot of it.

I'm not sure if we can pass through from the Salt River Canyon access point. might be a gate somewhere after the campground. BUT.. there are tons of trails, and connecting trails that get back over to Cherry Creek road, up to Young, the 260, etc. some are even posted as NF roads.

Alright.. well.. dug into it some more, you can access certain parts of the Res for camping, etc.. but you need a special use permit. Regardless though.. the areas I wanted to get to are in their closed areas anyways (far left side of the map, black road that runs north along Canyon creek). So scratch that I guess..

Haystack it is. And with it being only 13.5 miles and a long weekend we can stay a night and go explore some where else if we feel like it. Wish we could cross the river there and continue the trail. Watching that video of the jeeps that water is rushing and got me wanting to forge some water so started looking at Turkey creek and sheeps crossing videos.

Well... if you want to do that, I have another route I was wanting to do. I just threw out Haystack because it was close/halfway to you. I want to go to Sheeps Bridge from the other side of the Verde. I've done it a few times from the west side, both from the north and south entrances, but I've always wanted to get on the other side. If the water is low enough, we can cross here just before Horsehoe Lake in a few shallow sections.. then make our way up north to the bridge and end up on the east side of the river. I've never seen a lot of vehicles on that side... they are always on the west side. would be cool to be more isolated on that side, plus just explore that side/area. Never have, always wanted to.

...and that red X is where I destroyed my Wrangler back in High School and ended up having to get Air rescued. lol

They are the URD equal lengths, just coated in mud. lol

Or.. @KingOfTheNorth since if we did that.. you would be coming down the 87 anyways.. we could do Log Corral to Bartlett.. or really get into it and see if there's a way to connect from Log Corral/Bartlett area.. back up and over to that section of the Verde/Horseshoe again and continue back to Sheeps Bridge. lol that would be intense though.

also... IDK if I have Monday off...

That looks good! I have only done sheeps bridge once from the regular way we did for the campout. The other way would be cool to try. Only thing I would be worried about is depending on how hairy it gets I havent built my sliders yet. But I get off at noon on friday and could haul ass down to you guys since youre off later than I am. And I work monday.

Well, I say we hold off on the log corral route then and do that once sliders go on. I'd be down to check out sheeps bridge via that water crossing though. That shouldnt be bad at all wheeling wise, just have to see if the water is low enough. might have to take a scouting trip out there with @prise sometime this week.

Yeah same. Try to prevent some body damage lol. I have more than enough clearance but just incase. Yeah it wont be bad just a rough road. And cool lets set it up. I will hopefully get out of town by 1pm. Where you want to meet at? Or should I just come to your house?

Probably Andrew's. I'll swing by and pick him up.. then we can roll. Or we can meet somewhere along the way out there off Cave Creek..

Thats from Show Low.. the yellow star is Andrews for reference.

    upload_2022-4-11_10-3-34.jpg

then from the crossing to the bridge..

Ok that looks awesome. I like that plan. Also gives me a chance to fuel up and let the dogs shit in Andrews yard before we leave lol

Yeah definitely, its just the water level... I'm not sure how much water they are letting out of Horseshoe damn. but yes. we'll find something regardless! I'm just looking around that area and following little trials. lots of little trails and other access points to the Verde up there. Definitely should make for a good time and lots of choices.

I am down to cruise out Wednesday after work and get out there before dark to check it out then turn around and come home before it gets late. And Andrew you can meet at my house and I bet you get there rught after I get off work. Or meet at a bar in Queen creek so you don't have to back track to my house, but completely up to you

Yeah that is a thing with the water being let out. But yeah plenty of areas to explore and play area. Going to be fun no matter what.
