Penn is nothing. I’ve driven farther for stupid stuff. Not as of late thanks to work. But in the past I’ve driven 15 hours one way for a door… just because it was cheaper than shipping it back then. Lol

It looked really clean mechanical wise, despite the totaled body

Leaking valve covers and a high idle from the throttle plate being worn. That’s about it mechanically frames straight as an arrow and it tracks straighter than all my trucks even at 80mph. It’s a stupidly high mile gem.

Driving it around I’m getting like 19-20mpg.

That throttle body issue is annoying, honestly toyotas three wire IAC is infuriating too... do you know if the IAC on these trucks reacts to coolant temp at all since it passes through it?

Not that I know of. The coolants just there to prevent the plate from freezing shut.

Okay so no wax pellet or anything... well shit, controlling one with a Haltech is proving annoying. It gets 12v on a pin and I assume the other two for motion are pulled low and its PWM of some kind...

Honestly I’d just swap in a DBW and be done with it. Lol. Make an adapter and boom. Race car.

Yeah I don't dislike that idea... have to find a non garbage DBW body that fits. But the IAC circuit on a 5VZ goes like around the injectors and shit, not sure if I can just block that or what

The vacuum line is for the air assisted injectors. I don’t see why you couldn’t relocate the line to the intake tube. Toyota DBW throttles work with the haltech well and can be found cheap. The. All you need to do is figure out the pedal. A tundra gas pedal might fit. But I’m not sure

There’s some Bosch injectors that fit the 3.4 too that remove the air assist. I can’t find the source? But I have a set of 12 hole injectors laying around I need to test

I can mount a pedal but toyota DBW bodies are a joke, they're terrible. Anywho I'll keep trying on the IAC. But do tell me more about the air assistance on the injectors, it sounds intriguing and im wondering if it is needed.

I’ve never attempted running one without the line hooked up on the stock injectors.. still not 100% what the vacuum is assisting. But the plenum is plumbed for these injectors to function with the vacuum

An air-assisted fuel injection system employs an alternate path so that the airflow can take another route down to the intake manifold, where it re-mixes with the normal flow from an area surrounding the injector pintel. This promites higher atomization, and economy. Especially at low/part throttle.

    thanks google.

Also. What’s wrong with the Toyota DBW? Just curious. After driving a car running the haltech with a Toyota throttle it’s 10x better than stock. Instant response and well. It just worked.

    stock the delay is atrocious

Ah fun, so its completely unnecessary if you're using modern injectors with more than two holes. Interesting shit

Yea pretty much. If I remember I’ll get photos of the injectors I’ve got to play with might help

Toyota DBW when its working is as good as any of them (okay not as good as bosch) but they're high failure rate mechanically and seem to die commonly at the hands of standalone ECUs electronically.

I put 650cc Densos with the air pintle caps (didn't know what they were but they were for this application). It was disappointing to see they were 2 hole but it makes sense why now.

Eh. We’ll see how long mine lasts on the 3.5 when I go haltech… trying the stock computer first. But haltechs coming.
I’ve got a dyno day guaranteed if the cars running by august at the latest.

If it wasn't a complete nightmare to fit one up (have to keep stock intake piping to airbox) I'd put a Bosch unit in or a GM one off an LS. But as it is right now I'm gonna unplug the IAC, manually crack his throttle open with the set screw for bypass, and set the Haltech to reach target RPM by ignition control. That will work and adapt to most situations
