Top selling "compact" truck! Looking at the numbers it kicks Nissan's ass.

Well, to really read the list properly, you have to combine the Chevy trucks and the GMC trucks since they are basically the same thing.

Wow only 1431 Titans? It took Ford roughly only a day and a half to sell that many F series according to these numbers!

Compact? The access cab has the same wheel base as the 1st gen tundra.
They dropped compact years ago. And the ranger is about to go off production or get huge.

What gets my attention is nobody is thinking like me.
The top sales are the full size gas guzzler trucks, Ford, Chevy, Dodge
Why are people buying these trucks when gas prices are expected to rise?
I just traded in my full size Ford truck for the Tacoma for better gas mileage
I think people are listening to the hype and heavy advertizing and going for the lies that Ford and Chevy claims of 20 mpg, but Dodge doen't make the claim of good mpg, and people are buying Dodge.
I was talking to the sales manager of the local Toyota Dealer, I told him the same thing, I am going with the Tacoma cause I am going broke paying for gas for my full size Ford and I expect gas prices to continue to rise, he told me I was smart and he's selling the Tacoma's like crazy and everybody is thinking like me?
Was he blowing smoke up my a**?
I am still sticking to my convictions, I believe gas will rise to $5 gal by the end of 2011, and maybe up too $7 gal by winter 2012
Its basic to me, I am driving to the same places, same distance everyday and with my full size Ford I was spending $80 a week on gas, with my Tacoma I am paying $50 a week on gas.
I can't save the world, I can't convince everybody to do what I do, I can only save myself, people won't listen to me, people think i'm crazy, but bad times are coming.

I ALWAYS got better mileage in my GMC 1500 extended cab 5.3. regularly in the 20s. ALways. Got stuck in parking lots and couldn't park on the street in honolulu.. but it got good mileage and had chunks oh HP on tap. FOrd seems to not care as much about the mileage thing.. well last I was shopping them.If they sold a tacoma with a vortec I'd consider it.

There are many Chevy Owners that tell me the same thing, that they get 20+ mpg on their full size 4x4 V8, I don't know, never owned one, everytime I went to any Chevy Dealer to buy one they expected $10K more for the Chevy than the Ford. The Chevy Dealers advertize the new full size Chevy, ext cab, LS 4x4 for $24,995, but the real price is always $35K, you cannot touch a reg cab stripped down 4x4 for under $30K.
My 09 Ford F150, ext cab, FX4, 5.4 engine 4x4 I got for $21K new where the same equip Chevy was $35K and the Dodge was $29K (but I had a $5k rebate and $4500 off sticker on the Ford)
I believe Ford has the most sales cause they are the lowest price truck when everybody shops around, Chevy and Dodge Dealers don't give off the sticker price.
When I bought my Tacoma last month the dealer gave me $2200 off the sticker price, I was happy with that

OK OK OK gas prices are going to skyrocket?

I don't believe it's possible, supply and demand is a pretty simple theory here...
A few years ago, I was paying $1.40/litre which is $5.29/gallon.

people were driving significantly less, myself included!
I would combine all my trips for the day, to save my gas, and gas prices dropped pretty quick after some time there.

if gas gets too high, people will stop driving, or drive way less, then there will be lots of gas, because less people will be buying it, thus, gas prices will go back down to a somewhat acceptable price.

if it hits $7 / gallon, will you drive as much as you do? will you go on wheeling trips?

another thing, gas prices are rising with inflation, in year 2000, gas was 90c/litre, today in my city it is 1.18/ litre.
in year 2000 a basket of goods worth 90 cents, would now be worth around $1.20, so gas prices are on par...

    end rant

How the hell does Dodge sell more RAM trucks than Toyota sells Tacomas? When are people going to catch the hint by reading a dictionary?

Dodge –verb (used with object) 1. to elude or evade: to dodge a blow; to dodge a question.

Interesting that it you combined GMC Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 (essentially the same truck) it would outsell the F150.

Edit: Seems they lump all the big three american trucks into one. IE. all F-Series. Not just a F150. I wonder what the sales would be by specific truck model.

Too many people I talk to recently seem to have heard about the Tacoma's vibration issues. I had no idea! I just thought it was th ebest truck I test drove.

    But,

they have to address and fix these drive shaft vibration issues.

BTW: My MPG on a brand new 2011 V6 is only 16??

Unfortunately the biggest factor in these rising gas prices might be nothing we're doing as drivers in North America, but rather the millions of new drivers filling up for the first time in China. All car companies are hoping for a huge foothold in this area, because China is expected to have not necessarily a population boom, but an economic boom, with the average household income skyrocketing, making cars, and the fuel they consume, more attainable.

ford and chevy have the advantage of the government buying their pickups
All we have are fords and chevys, in a winter environment and cant even realize we need to get the 4x4.
