I don’t mind impromptu at all, with that said, I already committed to a BBQ on the 23rd so I wouldn’t be able to make this.

Hello Everyone! Long time lurker on Tacoma World, especially in the 3rd gen "Where Have You Off-Roaded Today?" and "Truck Camping Photo Thread". I just discovered The Fellowship of PNW Tacomas section of TW and thought I had better create an account and introduce myself to the locals. I have a 2019 TRD OR DCSB in Cement (named Lobo) with a fare amount of modifications, mostly of the overlanding variety, RTT, HAM radio, Ipad with Gaia GPS, Dometic Fridge, Rock Sliders, ARB twin Compressor, 265/75 R16 KO2s. That sort of thing. No suspension upgrades yet, that will probably come next year. I would love to join you guys for some adventures especially if you are are headed out of the Hood River area as that is (sort of) local to me. I will keep an eye on this thread, looking for that sort of thing. Hope to see some of you on the trail!

Couple months ago there was a guy planning a trip in April to Florence/Coos bay, not sure if it was in here or another thread. If it rings a bell to anyone, send me to the thread! Thanks

Man today would have been a nice for a run. How many of you guys are geared up for cold camping up in the sticks? I’ve been thinking of making a run up past Kingsley Reservoir to Rainy & Black Lakes.

I’ve been on this website for a while and need to meet some of you folks!

I got a -25 degree sleeping bad in my RTT, so I'm ready for the cold. But to be honest I have my doubts I could make it that far up. My map shows Black Lake at 3770 ft of elevation. I feel like that is well above the snow level. But that is only supposition on my part, not first hand knowledge. Or maybe I'm just overly cautious. If someone has more info about conditions up there, please share.

I couldn’t say for sure either, but about 3 weeks ago, I tried going up lolo pass, couldn’t make it past around 3100 ft.
Past Kingsley towards rainy and black lake is even higher and on the snowier part of the mountain, at least in my experience.

Sorry guys, I meant making a run up there once the snow has melted off a bit. Seems like that doesn't really happen until late may, early June or so, and even then there's still some snow patches on the ground.

Anyone know if fs4400 dufur mill road is passable from highway 35? I need to get to billy bob snowpack and would rather not go around via Dufur. Thanks!

Nothing like using your winch for the first time to pull a tree out of the middle of the road because it snowed in April.

That is pretty crazy though. Around the zoo turned into quite a zoo.

Made a quick trip up to Browns Camps today, quite a bit of snow near the lower elevation trails (Happy Meal / University Fire Power).

While driving in I came across a brand new Rivian electric truck. Owner was new to Oregon so I offered to have him tag along for some easy trails. He said his Rivian was the first vehicle to be delivered to the Portland area (~4 weeks old), which probably makes this the first electric truck to complete a trail at Browns Camp?
This truck comes stock with 34” tires. No solid rear axel = lots of clearance. The owner let me drive it up part of University Firepower, and I was pretty impressed with how it handled.
