I just bought a little 98 Taco 2.4l. I replaced the battery and it keeps blowing up the 80 amp fuse. I need to diagnose this issue, but most importantly I need to get the car to shift into neutral so I can move out of the garage while I continue to diagnose this issue. What is the trick in this car to get it to shift into Neutral?

Maybe turn the key to the 'on' position to unlock the steering column?

    I honestly don't know.

I was used to other vehicles with floor shift and that little plastic pop off piece to shift it. I had never done it for a column shift car/truck.

take the cap off the the manual over ride release and stick a screw drive in the hole. Push in and shift to neutral. Good luck
