    Only $2K, that's a bargain today.

Our experience looking for a RAV4 Hybrid for my wife was that local dealerships (WA State) were willing to sell for MSRP if we wanted to get on the wait list. Could be 6 months or so. If we wanted a vehicle already in transit (allocated) we would be charged between $2,000-$4,000 for the market adjustment. We ended up getting a Honda CRV Hybrid with an ETA of two weeks instead for a lower market adjustment, but still $1,400 over MSRP. Tough times to buy a car/truck, especially if you want to see it anytime soon. Good luck!

Nope - did lots of research and many phone calls. Made a 7hr drive to pick up a Taco 3 states away as the dealer was charging MSRP. Passed up on other dealers wanting $1.2k - $4.5k+, that was with some mean words that came out after this information was revealed along with getting up and walking out/hanging up the phone. Even though I spent $300 in fuel and $100 on a trailer rental - it was worthwhile not giving more money to sleazeball dealerships with "Market adjustments".

OP - if you are willing to travel some I can help you out, I am also in VA and familiar with the dealers. Send me a PM and we can chat...

$2k over MSRP isn't bad. I'd snag it.

Shit...Depending on the area, I would love to go on a a 500 mile drive. Imagine picking up your truck and getting to test it on the drive home. Googling trails along the route.

I trailered mine back home as my friends were tied up and the dealership was far away from a major airport. Got to drive through the scenic PA mountains and meet some nice out of state folks at the small town dealership. Buying process could not have been more smoother (minus sleeping at a rest stop for a few hours).

IMO, that's better than paying a dealer markup. I never paid above MSRP until this pandemic and I REFUSE to pay extra just because a dealer feels they deserve my money more than me.

A bit off topic, but before your departure from the NAVY. Full check up at medical and DOCUMENT everything.

Make copies of your service, health, and dental records for yourself.

    Advice from prior NAVY.

I paid 2k over and got them to throw in the tacoma bed mat for free and a nice trifold at cost. No regrets. If youre financing, rates are only going to go up over the year so even if you were to wait and save the 2k, you may not actually save it by the time you factor in a higher APR. Also consider the value of your trade-in will probably just drop or cost you repair money in the meantime.

When you're ugly, family stuff just doesn't exist and the world revolves around house projects and vehicles parked inside and outside of it...

Dealers aren't suffering at all with this market. They're jacking up prices on everything new and keeping your trade in to sell on the lot for 10k more than anyome would have paid a year ago instead of getting pennies at the auction. They'll probably post record profits this year during the "shortage", just like big oil lol.......

I didn't read the whole thread. Buy it if is it what you want AND you need a new vehicle now. I paid MSRP 12 months ago and figured in a year I would regret it. Nope.

Fix the old car, give it another year when tacomas are sitting on the lots with $5+ gas people anticipating a hybrid tacoma.

I paid 8k over MSRP but got exactly what I wanted from the only Toyota dealer within 400 miles. Sometimes you gotta pay the cost to be the boss.
