How to carry concealed with dress clothes

Soon I am going to be in the need to carry my j-frame S&W while wearing dress clothes. Usually I will be wearing a shirt tucked in, maybe a polo or an oxford. I won't be wearing a jacket because of the warm weather. What do you all suggest for where and how to carry my revolver? Thanks for the help.

 

Depends on your build and how well the j-frame conceals on your waist. There are several good tuckable holsters, but I like the smart carry holster in dress clothes. It hides the best for me. I just can't conceal anything at my waist, so the smart carry gives me the best option.

 

So I'm in the gun store yesterday and I tell the sales guy that I'm looking for a small .380 to carry in the summer when I'm wearing shorts and flip flops and he says "you can always try an ankle holster".

 

What is the "smart carry"?

I pick up so many whores when I use the smart carry! It's kinda like a lethal wonder bra for men.

 

gotcha. My father in law has a thing that looks like a cel phone case that he keeps his little kel tec in.

 

I'd get a semi-auto and put it in a Supertuck.

Actually, I don't think either of those would be very practical to have access in a hurry.

Do some research on 'tuckable IWB' holsters. Tons out there.
Also, the one holster that I love currently, is the REMORA - not tuckable per say. It's clipless and tucks behind your wasteband easily without needing a belt. It's great!
Pocket holster? Not sure your gun would be too big for pocket carry...??

You could always go with a Shoulder bag..... Something more manly would be the Fatboy Versipak (for example)

 

I have a number of holsters for my 642. One of them utilizes the same concept as the "thunderwear".

It is a velcro attached band that has a stitched pocket to hold a revolver, subcompact or similar sized handgun. You can let it ride a little under your waist band, or slide it up above depending on your clothing or draw position preference.

They sell them on EBay cheap. It may not be perfect for everyone in all situations, but it has its uses.

The flexibility of location is what makes it great. You can move it around on your waist, hips or even go small of the back if you wanted.

There's a ton of them out there. Just have to find the one that's right for you.

 

I have one of the elastic bands too, and I use it sometimes, but it is not as comfortable as the Smart Carry. As far as fast,with the super tuck you have to pull your shirt up and with the smart carry you have to stick your hand down your pants. Both are less than perfect, but are better than having no gun due to dress. I guess it's what works best for you.

 

just pocket carry your J frame....

 

I have the Dillon Plan B. Not the best option unless you carry your dayplanner everywhere, but it's not easily guessed as a weapon holster.
I've carried both the Kahr CW and the Kimber CDP Pro in it.

 

I may try an ankle holster. I'll just have to take my pistol with me and try one on with the pants that I'll normally be wearing. Do you think its a bad idea to carry IWB and tuck my shirt in at the same time? I wouldn't be able to get to it too fast but I would still have a gun on me. Please give me your opinions. Thank you all

 

i have a my J frame in my glove box of the Tacoma in a Ford truck owners manual holder that zups up like this....ive been thinking about putting in some elastic to hold a speed loader or 2

 

There's lots of IWB holsters available but they don't 'feel' the same (comfort) and you have to find the best position (on your waste) and the right 'cant' (position of the gun) that suites your body mechanics and what's easier to draw.

Watch some youtube videos of people with tuckable IWB holsters and watch them draw them.....

I'm in the 'experimental' period myself - where I've purchased several different holsters and I'm still trying to find my 'sweet spot' with each one. And then its ...practice, practice practice. Nothing is gonna be perfect and it's better to have one than not (in my oppinion).
