    Happy Monday all… even though I don’t believe that’s a thing!

So the wife rolled her ankle Friday night… racing around on kids electric scooters and a bunch of tequila don’t seem to mix well. So after a few days of pain and telling her it was only a sprain and just have to stay off and keep it wrapped… we ended up at Urgent Care yesterday after the track. She hates this part… I was right and it was a sprain. They did give her a big hard boot though. So couple weeks on crutches and we will reevaluate.

As for the track… the boy showed up yesterday with his A-Game and was back on the podium. Grabbed a second place victory in both Motos and his Main. Super proud of him… and a quick turnaround from last weeks shit-show.

Rest of the week looking pretty good too… late start today, off early for wife’s company dinner party Thursday, off all day Friday with her and kids. Racing again Friday night for first night race of the year (weather permitting). Then Easter weekend with the family.

Hope everyone else had a good and eventful weekend as well!

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend and an easy Monday. Worked on the gears yesterday and after we got the rear installed and the front diff removed, I realized that the new diff was for a locking hub truck and is not compatible with my set up. I’m very disappointed and feeling defeated to say the least. Weighing my options for this truck as it has become increasingly labor intensive and very expensive to repair (mods and maintenance), which is to be expected on a 25 year old truck. Thinking about selling her and grabbing the cleanest 4Runner I can find and not modifying it (at least for a while). Can’t seem to justify the projects anymore as they all seem to be $1000 here and $1000 there almost weekly along with dozens of hours each month. I could use some help either talking me into keeping the truck and riding along, or sell it and hop in something in better shape

Ehh, as disappointed as you might be right now, you're *this* close to being finished with it. Let it win this round and come back in a week or 2 and finish the task and be done with it. It will finally be the way that you want it. Just my opinion, but if you go looking for a 3rd gen T4R you're just going to be starting all over again with maintenance and potential frame rot issues. ( ask me how I know...)

As for your non-compatibility issue with the front diffy, is it just the long axle tube for a vacuum disconnect?

That’s a good call honestly. Maybe I keep convincing myself that another vehicle will be better, but is not always the case. I’ll tackle this project another day!

For the diff, the axle tubes are different, the vacuum actuator is different and the bearings are different. Could swap to manual hubs if I really wanted to

We actually were debating between the two but Pizza Hut had the best bang for your buck.

Walkersville? If so, the "italian" place has good pizza and subs, they just constantly screw up the orders every time my GF and I get food from there. I have her cat addicted to the curly Q french fries from there. The Mexican place next to the Italian place has GREAT food, fajitas are fantastic.

Gather up the parts and do the manual hub conversion since it sounds like that's the only way to make your axle housing work.

Are you still interested in those wheels?

Yes ,they on occasion mess up on my wife’s salad dressing but that’s about it .The Mexican place isn’t bad we gotten it to go the one time we ate in the service was horrible. The Mexican place in the Waterside community is pretty good .

I've bought all my vehicles as projects. To me theres no better feeling than using your own 2 hands to transform a once junkyard bound or non-running vehicle into a reliable daily driver/weekend trail toy. I've got $4k invested into my $500 04 Tacoma with the repairs, maintenance & mods. I've been driving it since 2014 and last year i turned down a $7500 cash offer for it, can't beat that. That's why I prefer buying projects over walking into a dealership. I can't see spending $500-$700 bucks a month to get from point A to point B.
