that is true I agree.. though one factor at least in my area that needs to be considered... for someone considering a scooter or other low cc motorbikes.

if you have a 50cc scooter, they are technically 49cc and that falls under the no motorbike endorsements needed due to under 50cc... whereas with a dual sport you would legally need either a permit and a riding buddy or a full endorsement in order to legally ride around solo

just a technicality, for those considering prior to having a permit and or full motorcycle endorsement

Ordered a Kendon fold up trailer to tow behind the RV we picked up this weekend. Got rid of our 12ft enclosed trailer as this one will be lighter and take up way less space

I was looking up info on this, plus on how to register without a title.

In VA, just need to submit a lost title form (its just for mopeds) and an $18 registration fee. No insurance required, only need to be 16, and dont need to have class M on your license.

I took the AT to work today. I hate mornings. Riding is fine, but the bike feels out of place (like the truck) when I drive in city for work. Its like mixing pleasure and business. Yes my work is cool with me bringing my muddy toys in, they dont care. But I dont want to. If I have a beater car that I just use for work and mundane tasks like going to grocery store or making the 5 trips to Home Depot for that one project that required different screws.. That way the toys can be toys. That is my logic behind wanting a bs scooter or crappo civic or Honda Acty.. Blessing and a curse living so close to work and stores that I use frequently.

I keep watching you guys all looking at small displacement stuff and scooters and such and start getting the itch do join in. Sadly for me, none of this would work out very well. My commute for work includes a 5 mile stretch of interstate which I could avoid but would add a couple of miles and require me getting up and leaving earlier for work. That makes the real small stuff a no go. I went and looked at a nice 2007 Yamaha Majesty 400 with only 1600 miles a few weeks ago. Coworker has one and commutes on it a lot. Highway capable can hit 90 mph yet still gets about 60 or better mpg. Sadly here in PA that would mean yet another registration, inspection, and insurance each year so whatever I might save in fuel costs will be eaten up in maintenance and costs of ownership so I passed on the Majesty.

Maybe once my Tacoma is paid off........Guess I'll just have to make due with the 3 bikes I currently own.....First world problems

Good point. I’ve had a motorcycle endorsement pretty much since I’ve had a drivers license so I forgot some people may not want to go do the MSF course and get that.

We call it a class 2 license here, (car/truck/moped is class 1, adding motorcycle is 2). What do y’all’s states technically call a motorcycle endorsement?

Can you get a grom, and then just be that slow guy on the highway, for 5 miles?

In CO it's just called a motorcycle endorsement and you get an 'M' on your license.

The whole point of a Grom is taking the backroads. @BkerChuck just think about all the small towns you are missing riding on the interstate.

Squirrel Gap looks like a fun road. But, I feel like I might want to explore more after that.

I have (38.88994061490533, -78.70991568296814) saved in my google maps as "possible fun road" so who knows! its kind of near by.

EDIT: also this: (39.085703773975936, -78.51167597434552) but could be hiking.

    That's why I keep this.
I could, but that's another registration, inspection, and insurance each year for a vehicle that will likely only get a few hundred miles put on it on top of the purchase price and another vehicle to maintain.

Just can't justify it right now though I keep trying....

I think the Grom costs $40 a year to insure. Plus it’s fuel injected so you hop on and go.

I'm fortunate to only need my feet for the commute since I can work from home or take the train to the office. The motorcycles are solely for pleasure but I try to put the bulk of miles on them. Thinking about getting classic tags for my truck since I drive it so little. My wife's car is the "daily driver" and sees the most use, which luckily isn't much because a car needing premium fuel is not the optimal choice right now
