    I'm an LF guy...

Would you mind linking some documentation to back up the claim that MT-LV does not contain any sulpher/phosphorus and that the VF2CM transfer case does in fact have 'yellow metal'?

The Redline page for MT-LV states that there is no sulphur. I watched an hour long YT video about overhauling the TC to see the brass synchros as they were removed from the gear cluster. You can also see the oil pump and pickup that needs the 75W to function correctly.

    Okay.
Redline states, "no reactive sulphurs". It's GL-4 rated and Redline states it's also suitable for GL-1 and GL-3.
This is not out of line with anything in my first post you quoted.
I never disputed viscosity requirement either.
I've been researching LF alternatives for years. I've looked into class action against Toyota for there lack of suitable equivalent spec beyond mere viscosity and not providing it free under MM. I was the first to post Ravenol MTF-3 as an alternative. You'll have to try a little harder to enlighten me to anything I didn't already know.

The YouTube video is new to me, so thanks for that.

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear in that post. I was agreeing with what you said and adding to what you said not taking exception to anything you said.

His videos kill me. 12 minutes to say “Don’t use GL5 in manual transmissions because the sulfur content will damage brass components”

In your case I would use the Toyota fluid for the transfer case (1 Litre) and the cheapest 75-90 synthetic you can find for the front and rear diffs.

Are you looking for the specific metal in the synchro or just that it contains one?

    All of it...lol.
I was pretty sure the transfer synchro was, but wanted confirmation.

It's my understanding, GL-5 with active phosphorus, doesn't just start eating up yellow metal through chemical degradation, just from contact. It will bind to yellow metal and requires pressure and heat to physically corrode it. This would be more of a concern in a manual transmission than a part-time transfer case. Some GL-5s claim inactive or buffered phosphorus and are yellow metal safe...
I prefer to err on the side of caution and just use the OEM LF fluid. I would consider Redline MT-LV if I could find a VOA and get a look at the additive package.

He forgot to highlight that he recommends to forget the extremely overpriced 75wt fluid from Toyota, and fill it with what ever quality fluid you are using in your front and rear diffs.

Will do. I found 6 quarts of mobile one on Amazon for $72 and change. Will be arriving Thursday. I’m going to wait until 90,000 for the t- case based on advise above. My local VatoZone didnt have any 75w90 only 140.

Hmmm, I am already ordering 3 litres of Red line GL4 for my mt and was adding 1 more for the transfer case because my dealer said he only carries GL4 OEM at $59.00 Can. a litre. Apparently they use that for everything. I also saw that video and got the impression that GL4 was acceptable. I was going to use Lucas synthetic GL5 for the diffs. Another 5 litres at 20 bucks a pop. That's not counting the $220.00 in spark plugs. At this point its almost cheaper to trade the truck in for a new one.

I used Ravenol 75w in the t-case and topped off with a tiny bit of 75w-90. Don’t have any problems yet, and don’t anticipate any kind of issues. Used Valvoline 75w-90 synthetic in the diffs and t-case as well, with nothing abnormal to report. Like many of you, I can’t justifying paying like $80 something dollars for toyota’s “special” transfer case fluid. I did buy their ATF WS fluid, since it was a reasonable price on Amazon.

Yes, put mobile 1 75w90 in all three. 95000 miles worth, fourth change in a few months. Lots of offroad, dunes, snow, and towing.
