@Manfred made everything to bolt up to the areas of his bumper for a single swing. He made a dual swing out though. You can buy the spindles/pivot points and incorporate them into just about any bumper.

Thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it! I got a 2022 TRD Off Road in Lunar Rock with dealer-installed lift option. It was ordered by someone else with almost identical specs to what I ordered in February, but the original purchaser didn't want it, so the dealer sold it to me and I picked it up last Wednesday. I'll probably get the running boards swapped for something that doesn't hang so low. I do not have extreme goals with this truck, but I would love to hit some beginner trails this summer and just see what is possible.

Love this colour. Every time the dealer calls to try to buy my 2018 quicksand I keep thinking about life in a Lunar Rock lol.

Like most have already said, there's lots of great info here in the Ontario subforums and pinned threads. Even if you don't overly care about off-roading but just want to get your feet wet and play around, it's still a great idea to grab a TEC membership (first post of this thread) which is what most of us here are a part of, the boys put on some great events for all skills and it's a good way to meet some peeps. From there you can decide to join OF4WD (you get a discount if you're a TEC member) which will give you access to essential info on trail conduct and actual trail locations - rating system, what's open, what's not, etc. They're cheap to join and help keep the resources alive.

We're out of season for trail use at the moment - but it's coming quick and everything "opens" back up starting May.

Ganaraska (closest to you) is a nice pay to play forest which offers a fun trail system. I used to like going there solo when my truck was stock and wanted to have some fun without worrying too much about technicals. Totally stock capable and a great place to go to just take your new truck, snap a few photos and feel like you're somewhere well outside the city, with only an hour drive. There's still some places you can get stuck, common sense definitely required haha. You can purchase a day pass online before entering the park boundary. Paper maps available at the head office.

Next closest to you would be specific areas of the kawartha highlands ("free"/crown land) which can be stock taco friendly and also completely 10000% not. Wide variety of fun here for every skill level. This is one of my favorite places to go to since it's reasonably close for a day trip from Toronto. Trail info can be found on OF4WD or alongside a TEC group run. Best to have map info before entering.

You're already on the right track about the steps, those predators will get caught up on any rocks and bend right off. Look up something called "sliders" - most people unfamiliar think they're just running boards, and they kind of are, but offer much more in the way of protection. 99.9% of people here will recommend finding a set of sliders over steps. Sliders can be steps but steps are not good as sliders.

There's a thousand gear rabbit holes for you to fall down here and plenty of opinions to match lol, just get a couple basics and go from there. Before you know it you'll be broke like the rest of us. Plenty of helpful people here to get you started!

No idea if life in lunar rock is all that much better, but I saw the colour and knew nothing else would satisfy. It's got a great industrial look.
Re the rest of your post, that's phenomenal information! I'll sit down tonight after work and start putting it all together. Thanks!

been thinking something along the lines of TMR'S carrier and just tack-welding it to the corner of the Outgear solutions bumper
    upload_2022-4-12_13-29-6.jpg

But that's fair enough. a bit straight forward of what to do, obviously the rest of the design and latch comes after

Actually forgot that 4X innovations has a spindle as well

I like the 4x innovations one more over the spindle. If the spindle on a carrier wears out you have to cut it out and replace. The 4x innovations is double shear, uses a big bolt and is serviceable with a bronze bushing

I literally just applied some paint from these guys today. A year or so ago I was having tons of trouble finding Quicksand paint since it's not in production cycle at toyota and also no one in Canada could offer me anything. Even in the US it was very tough to find, Amazon, etc.

@MaverickT883 actually came through for me and sourced a pen of it back then!

The other day I was searching for non-pen form and miraculously those guys popped up for Canadian availability. Seems someone saw the demand out here cause this never existed for .ca

Long story short - the color match seems perfect, I haven't even gotten to the clear coat yet. 10/10 would recommend. I got the "essential".

The pen was tough given the spot of my damage (door where it curves up to the window seal), I used it on a different side/angle that seemed better for it. Definitely tougher than brush. This kit from scratcheshappen comes with more than enough paint to cover chips for a lifetime, I was pleasantly surprised.
