First, I apologize, there are a billion threads about which year Taco to buy online but I want to be sure if I am still paying $35K for a used truck.

11/17 build date would make it an '18 model year with all the '18 improvements, right? I heard that's when they started coating the insides of the frame rails, trans improvements, etc. Will I be getting a good truck? I feel it's right at the cusp of the good ones...

    Thanks for any input!

That's a lot of money for a used truck. My 2022 SR5 was less than that.

Thanks but I want all the options. Crazy the price difference between the trims and how these trucks do not depreciate meaning my four year old loaded truck is still worth more than a new SR.

My 18 has been flawless besides some minor recalls. Go for it.

First thing to look for is Toyota Safety Sense Radar located in the grille. Then you know it's an 18 model year.

FWIW my buddy had 2017 sport (totalled, hit and run) and he had 80k miles and zero issues. He was one of those guys that was very rough on their truck, a lot of off-roading miles as well. Doubt he even did the diff fluid changes.

It was super white, had no issues with paint.

The best Tacoma's are the ones that rolled off the assembly line in the last half of 2017. Just my humble opinion...

    08-17 build. Flawless.

Although I just received my third lamp leak repair campaign letter in the mail!b

I heard Mr Sweers hand built all 2017s.

    Correct

While $35k may be what the market will bear, to me it seems lunacy for a 4 1/2 yo truck. :notsure:

My 2010 was built in Sept 2009 so I believe your build date would make it an 18. Have fun man!

Can agree, though if one keeps it for 10 plus years IMO it's worth it.

Well, 'more' worth it for sure, as the TCO really drops when spread over time on a reliable unit.

And while we see the anecdotal evidence of high mile older Tacos around here, I'd gladly wager that over 75% of owners (especially with gussied up models) are under 5 years and 100k.

I started to buy used after test driving a 2019 Pro with 20k that they wanted 54k for and 48k for a 2021 that was not loaded at all with 35k miles I decided to stick to my 2022 fully loaded OR.

Most likely correct and those around 100K are perhaps actively looking to replace.

Mine has been mine 9.5 of its 12.5 years and I've put 117K on it. I'm not done up as in lifted and such though..I've done stereo and lights among other things.

He did. Rumour is they got a final buffing with Egyptian beeswax when he was done.

Crazy what they go for used, I barely paid more than that for mine new. Anyways, I have 61k miles and zero issues on my 2018 TRD offroad besides the recalls Toyota took care of. I do keep up on my maintenance though.

    I had to check!

11/17 build here as well and no timing cover leak. I have to check the coolant tube, but it’s only dropped about a 1/4-1/2” from the drawn line/full.

C’mon Toyota, having to worry about this is :crapstorm:
