Fender Flare popped off?

Ok so I got out of my truck today after normal driving.

I look at my driver side front fender flare and notice it is not right.

I examine it closer and notice the front towards the bumper had come undone popped off.

I dont think warranty covers this and honestly I dont care to pop it back on myself.

I tried to pop it back on but it doesnt want to go is there a trick to it or what?


Anyone know, I was going to climb up under the fenderwell to look at it and what not but its like 6 degrees out and 3" of snow on the ground so figured I would ask TW for help.

Just push it back in, it's only held in there with little plastic clips

 

I washed my truck a couple weeks ago and noticed a couple of my plastic clips have fallen out. Probably what happened to yours. I'll be looking into finding new clips or replacing them with something once it gets warmer and I can work on my truck again.

 

I tried that....

gotcha what are those clips called so I can pick some up.

 

Thats affirmative, double checked it this morning all ice has been removed.

 

those tabs and clips break super easy. It's possible that they broke and fell off the truck while driving. That may be why u cant push them back in, because theyre not even there.

It's not that big of a deal, just a eye sore.

 

They're called plastic push rivets or fasteners.

They come in all variety of sizes. I recently went to the auto store and bought a couple packs for my truck. I was missing them in varying locations myself. There are also screw rivets on our truck. Check your other panel to see which one and size you need.

Im guessing the whole flare just pops straight off? Like pull straight out? Then it should pop off so I can fix the broken one?

 

actually they look just like this. Alternating blue ones and orange ones. Atleast this is what they look like on my 2010 when I removed my fenders last weekend.

 

not really. If you just try to pull it straight off, you will break all of those clips and/or fender tabs. When I did it, I had to jack the truck up, remove all the tires, remove the big plastic mud gaurds that are in between the fenders and the truck, and only then did I have access to the clips so I could remove the fenders. You need to squeeze the clips with neddle-nosed pliers and then push them out.

If you have any broken spots where the clips go in the flair there is a great fix. I bought all new clips and found there were busted out sections where they attach to the flair. Use 100% Silicone and attatch the flair. Tape it well with masking tape and leave over night. It's going nowhere now. BTW ....the black one's at the $tealership are $303. !!
