This is what they are referring to.

But this might be the way it is.

No idea what I’m doing but framed up the area to plumb the new toilet to. Current toilet location was directly out of the picture to the bottom.

Following up on this nosing project still. I said screw it and just bought a track saw instead of renting. They’re handy, and I’ve got an entire barn to renovate this summer. So the idea will be to cut all of these boards perfectly flush, such that the end of the riser to the new cut is about 1/16” shorter than it needs to be for the nosing (this will account for small variations — at the worst it’ll have 1/16” gap underneath the nosing where no one will see it).
    DF1F6B7B-7831-46E3-98C6-1F1759769675.jpg

I also got that matching groove cutting router bit and started making mock up cuts. Took me a while to get the depth set, but after a few burner boards it looks like my spline fits nicely and my new makeshift tongue and groove system won’t have any gaps! My modified board is on the right and the nosing is on the left.
    9C3E733A-8D99-41D7-8CB8-C6F80CD5CF45.jpg

Seems like everything is on track, but then I measured my nosing and the company I used for my flooring gave me the wrong dimensions from the actual nosing I received  it’s 1/4” shorter! What that means is I can’t cut the boards flush because the nosing will bottom out before reaching the new edge if I take material away. So… I’m going to tear that existing riser out and put one in that’s 1/2” skinnier (it’s just a finish riser). That way I can actually bear down on some meat with the track saw when I flush the boards up and have room to make everything flush. It’ll take me a few days to splice the new riser to the right length, scribe both sides, and then paint… so maybe I’ll have the nosing on this weekend. Maybe not lol.

Got a little painting done today...

Wanted to match the color to the shed, think I did pretty good on that. The door is a darker gray to match the shed trim, but looks blue in the picture for some reason.

Also removed the abundance of phone lines and staples on the wires coming out of the old electrical panel. It's getting swapped out soon.

I'm thinking about replacing the siding of my house with cement boards and faux venner (fake). What do you guys think? Any ideas/advice?
Why? Cause the wood siding is 30YO. Front only of course, ingot stucco in the back.

Cement boards durable and easy to install. Are you gonna DIY it or let someone else do it?

I'm gonna DIY. My question is what to put between cement board and faux panels for water protection? Black roofing type underlayment?

It's a friend's and they're not gonna part with it. Even with the low miles it's a pretty big clunker...
