Back in the day, the old timers would correct us it was a tape, not tape measure. Since then, I’ve always thought of it as a tape…

Maybe it’s a regional or generational thing :notsure:

You are correct, in person I refer to it as "a tape" as well.

    Agreed.

Tape is duct, masking, painters, Scotch...

I just use 25mm to 1". Makes it easier when a customer says they need a "10mm coarse thread bolt that's 3.5" long".
I've seen some videos of it being used. Actually seems rather useful. Didn't know it was $200 though.

One measures with "a tape", on the other hand tape products are always referred to as "a roll of ___ tape".

Toilet paper and paper towels come on rolls. Tape is just tape. Unless it's a cassette.

Just watched the video, can't deny it is cool -- wonder how it would survive a fall off a 12 foot ladder onto concrete?

I bought 100's of these at work, the workers loved the fractions.

I liked both the price point (local purchase, much less than Amz) and also the fact these proved to be very worker resistant. (Nothing in a factory is worker proof)

I had one guy leave the tape on the work piece and cut it 1/3 of the way through the case with a radial arm saw -- "he didn't notice it"... :smack:

The last tape measure I bought was a Komelon. Not a cool color like those, though.

At my first job doing decals, everyone had super flexible 6 foot tape measures, which for 95% of what we did was fine. My 25' fluorescent green Leverlock had a tendency to walk off and not be returned in a timely manner when something like a grain truck needed to be measured.

Somehow 25 years later I still have it!
