Tyvek(house wrap) over the whole front. Flashing around and above the faux veneer siliconed then taped to the Tyvek. Caulk at the vertical joints where the cement board meets the faux or corner trim. At each butt joint of the cement board you put a piece of square tin that overlaps the lower board about 1/2" above where the bottom of the upper piece will sit. Congrats. You're now properly flashed and water tight.

Best part of doing it correctly is is doesn't matter if you get 1 day or 100 days of rain. You won't have to worry about it. Flashing is cheap and worth the extra time to install. Almost every water penetration leak I have ever repaired has been because something was improperly flashed and sealed.

Thank you!! It’s actually solid hickory. It’s got a lot of variation in it, so some pieces look like red oak, white oak, maple, walnut, etc. it’s for people that are incredibly indecisive about floor color.

    This sounds really good.

I am a bit confused. Is he back to studs? What is the "faux" part?

Studs, sheathing (good stuff, some houses sheathing = bracing), Tyvek, then siding............in my mind's eye

This is the wall, the largest of them. The others are minimal... the whole siding will be gone, either stucco obove or wooden siding, havent decided yet.

I've done more complicated projects around my house, however I very seldom post them here.

So all my home helpers. My dishwasher has been smelly, like not good at all! I have replaced the dishwasher itself, all the lines, even a new hot water heater and the lines coming from the hot water to the house as well. Also I installed a whole home water filter. The only thing that stinks is the dishwasher and sometimes the kitchen sink but nothing else in the house. I am wondering if adding a p-trap to the pipe coming off the disposal would maybe help.
