My New Harley

Well, almost done with my deployment (16 days left) and as a reward to myself for all the hard work, I bought a new Harley.

Anyone else have one?

It's a 2011 Dyna Wide Glide in Sedona Orange with black flames. It was finished being built on Dec 12th, 2010 and is waiting for me back at the dealer.... And it's paid for.

Getting an intake, V&H exhaust, and tune in March since it's too cold to ride anyway... and might get some new grips and pegs. Just cannot decide on what I want.

Second of all, SICK bike!!! That's one hell of a coming home present. I picked up a Victory Jackpot a few months back and have been enjoying the hell out of it. Ride safe brother!!

I always liked the Wide, even though I'm a Victory guy. Congrats on a great bike.

 

Thanks guys! I almost bought a Victory... but to me something just seemed missing with regards to the rear fender. What I love most about the Victory was the standard 103 engine (which was BEAUTIFUL by the way) and the cost/power ratio... But in then end, I saw this, fell in love with it - and pulled the trigger.

Having grown up on Hondas (600F4i, RC51) and Suzuki Cruisers (M50s) I don't plan on being one of the stereotypical Harley guys. If you ride - all the better!

Keep the shiney side up guys!!!

congrats. im glad your not like all the harley guys. i hate the crew that rides in my town. the go to tim hortons and back. and thats it. they hate imports.

 

There is nothing wrong with brand loyalty (I mean look how we are with our Tacomas) but some people take it too far...

They must not be aware that Harleys are now more than 50% imported... the number that sticks in my head is 73%.

 

Nice bike, I assume you took advantage of the overseas sale program with US delivery? I knew many deployed soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors who got treated very well by HD for their overseas service time.

I ride a BMW airhead...hint, never try to out distance a greybeard, on a airhead with an iron butt plate.

I checked into it while I was here... I would have only saved 400 bucks and my dealer gave me an excellent price - plus I got a lifetime discount on parts and labor. The military sales programs sounds like a good deal, but in my case it wasn't.

I wanted to buy at my local dealer to establish some rapport anyway... so kind of worked out.

 

Sharp looking bike and I hope it puts down the miles for you. I think I would look at a high quality seat first. It will make the miles much easier. I went from a stock seat to a Mustang and love it. I can do 5-600 miles a day without hurting when I get off the bike.

I know backrests are the "in thing" right now, but I'll rip the arm off the guy that tries to take mine away. Between the baby apes, Mustang w/ backrest, and highway pegs I can get comfortable enough to ride all day with the guys on their road couches. The backrest comes out real quick to ride around town with the clean lines I like.

 

Most of my rides will be more local... The Dyna isn't really for long distance - though, then again, neither was my Honda RC51 (but drove that from DC to upstate NY one year).

So I take it the backrest is removable based on what your saying... is that correct?

 

yea my dad has one for his soft tail! you should look into getting cams for your bike they really wake them up alot i had a sportster that was putting 85hp to the ground!!
