I am in BC, Canada. Just was in Toyota dealership get a few parts. Ran my VIN# and low and behold there is a outstanding frame inspection/ recall for my 4L 2013 Tacoma.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with this but I wasn’t. I guess they extended this for 2010-15s and the recall/ inspection isn’t offered after July of this year! Figured I’d give you all heads up in case are not aware.

Mine goes in on Thursday, here in Virginia the frame inspection / spray coating runs out 6/30/22. It varies depending on your location.

It is 12 years from date of first use (first purchase)

Get it checked right before it goes out of date.

I think their referring to the date you need to get sprayed with coating in order to get frame warranty of 12 years. If you wait till right before end of 12 years and didn't get sprayed they won't guarantee frame. I believe do your own due diligence
    Good luck to all

Mine was less than a week before for the final inspection when they found perforation; OP should be good until 2025...

The 12 year frame warranty starts at the time vehicle was first sold, so my 2014 will expire 6/2026. My frame has zero rust at 32,000 miles but it has not been driven on salted roads.

He was confused. Many ‘service managers’ are clueless as to the details. 12 years from the date first put into service is the number on 2nd Gens.

How did it turn out? What type of spray is on it? I'm considering this even though my truck was from Arizona. It's either get it sprayed or fluid film it this fall.

I’m not impressed. They plugged some holes and only appeared to apply coating on inside of the frame and only in the center of the truck. I’m going to climb under there tomorrow and inspect everything so I’ll know for sure what they did. Either way 12 or 15 years I figured I’m good till at least 2027

That’s what I told him and he said nope 15 years from date of service. I didn’t buy my truck from this particular dealer and he told me what date it went into service and when it will expire so I don’t know

It's 12 years from first date of service if you had the inspection done before the drop-dead date. (for my area: 3/31/22) For my 2014: the frame is warranted until: 4/7/2026.

On my frame, it looks like they did the minimum as/when compared to some of the pics in here where they were much less stingy with the CRC. What is consistent in all the pics here is where it was applied. For example on the laminated parts on the inner bottom sections of the frame, but for some reason, not those same applicable areas on the inner top section. Makes absolutely no sense to me. You'd think they would apply the material to absolutely eliminate as much as possible the necessity to ever replace even one more frame. Not goop it on with a heavy application everywhere, but enough to at least protect the same prone areas where it fails consistently and catastrophically: like the laminations.

I was also told 12 years from first date of sale. My frame was sprayed 6 days ago, fairly good job was done but this white waxy stuff is still just as soft as the day I picked it up. It is still more like a grease then hardened wax. Called dealer to find out if it will harden up but they have not returned my call. If I was to wash my frame with a garden hose with a direct stream, I believe it would remove it.20220411_114445.jpg

Does the dealer do any prep work on the frame before covering it?
If the frame still has rust and all they do is coat it, wouldn't the rust just continue underneath, and potentially leave you worse off than before and potentially after the frame warranty period?
