6spd clutch noises

I have a 2010 Tacoma 6spd with around 15,000 miles

Lately I’ve been noticing noises (squeaky and springy) from my clutch when I engage/disengage the clutch. Its been more noticeable when the weather is warm.

Ive read of some stories on here regarding this. Is it the throwout bearing? It should be covered under warranty? How long does it usually take them to fix this issue

 

Squeaky pedal is common..especially in warm weather. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to use a plastic pedal arm should be shot.

I spray white lithium grease on it when it starts squeaking and it usually goes away for a month or two.

well are you hearing the clutch pedal or the throwout bearing? He's sayin throw out bearing. That would only make noise when engine running.

Its a new "toyota" so the bearing could be bad in the box, as it were. They let the drivers do the QC now, like GM used to.

 

TOB is more or less a "chirp" in my opinon and goes away (generally) when the clutch is pushed in... I took my to the dealer and it wouldn't "chirp" but they documented it and I'm going to take it back when it does it again ( it does it off and on).

im hearing it from inside the cabin so its def the pedal...

makes me want to sell the 6spd and get an auto..

 

I have a 2005 and it made the same noise. You can take it back to the dealer and they will fix it. They replaced a part on mine and it hasn't made that noise in a couple years. It's covered under your warranty. It wasn't the throw out bearing.

 

I have a 2010 6 speed. And finally figured out what the little squeak is. The Driver's seat, take the seat out and there are 2 pointy things on the bottom of the seat. They are guides for putting the seat in at the Factory. cut them off, put the seat back in squeak is gone.

 

lube.

study the mechanism on the cabin side. see what pivots and where things are moving in holes, even the return spring holes. then cover the floor and firewall with paper or cardboard or both, and take a true quality grease (like BG ss2000) and hit the spots with it. for the spots you can't get to, take a true penetrating oil (not WD-40, something like BG In-Force) and spritz those spots.

do these trucks have a normal clutch master cylinder? i haven't even looked. if so, it could be that, as that is a problem on some vehicles like 8th gen honda civic si. but i'd bank on the pedal mechanism needing some spot lubing.

 

WOW.. I'll be the first to admit.. carrying over toyota's name on the american made ones is insulting to the japan made vehicles...

But, you need to maybe just solve your squeak. Everything can be de-squeaked. And in this case, its your dealers job. If its the pedal, It should be fairly easy. Though it may involve removing it. Spraying it down shouldn't work, if its the axle or spring mount doing the squeaking.

as a teenager I was the squeak and rattle guy (no skills to speak of at the time) and customers came in for a lot less than that and my service manager wouldn't accept anything short of fixed.
