    Hey all,

First post here, i've been lurking through a bunch of the pricing posts, and the larger "what did you pay thread" but i'm wondering what decision you would make here. I'm trying to get a 2022 TRD OR DCSB in LR w/ manual transmission. The dealer near me would put in the inquiry for one with the technology package and the out the door price would be $48.8k with a 4-5 month wait.

    MSRP/Retail: $38.7k
    Selling Price: $43.7k
Protection Package (says he HAS to do this, right......): $1k
    Taxes: $3.6k
    Documentation Fee: $175
    Title & Registration Fee: $284
    Total Amount: $48.8k

I'm not sure he meant to give me all the paperwork, but it included the dealer invoice, and it looks like they would make approximately 7k on the sale as opposed to 2k due to the markup.

I also test drove a 2021 TRD OR DCSB in MGM w/ manual transmission and 14k miles, I don't think it had the tech package and it was listed for $39k, out the door would probably cost me close to 44k after taxes and fees.

I am totally fine with waiting, but I'm wondering if the $5k markup is pretty consistent everywhere. In the end a brand new one only costs me an additional ~$5k

    Invoice price means nothing.

Just depends on what YOU are willing to pay. If it was me, I would negotiate at least 10% off MSRP, and tell them to pound sand on their protection package and markup.

You're right, i don't have any purchase agreement signed, if they got the exact truck, no additional packages should I expect that it is going to be higher? It's not really to much of a risk for me because its a $500 refundable deposit for them to put in the inquiry.

For me, life is to short to quibble or wait for months. I wanted a new manual with certain options and colors, but found it would be many months, at best. I bought used and didn't get every exact thing I would have gotten, but that was in August and I've been driving and modding ever since. Had I waited, I'd probably still be without a truck.

You will likely have a bit more negotiating power if you expand your options (colors and packages) a bit. If you are locked into one truck, they are not going to move on price at all. If that is not important, then just buy it.

Depends on how you see $5k in your life. If it's nothing to you, go ahead with the $49k.

FYI- Mine would be around 25 cents that I would say what the hell I can spend that with no worry.

I was sort of in the same boat. The 2022 Trail Edition was $41.5K msrp. markup was $6K. adding tax/license/fees, the total was over $51K. I bought a 2021 trail edition with 16K miles for $40K out the door. Used trucks generally have no markup and you can negotiate.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Of course in my few days of waiting the used one was sold. I think I'm going to keep shopping used.
