Researching my next possible mod and ended up on this thread. Trying to find someone that has run a 3 leaf add a leaf on the factory leaf with the overload, bottom, spring removed and later installed the RXT on stage 1. I find plenty of comparisons between the RXT leafs and the factory pack with 3 leaf add a leaf with overload spring on. I tried to run the 3 leaf add a leaf with the over load on and this truck rode like a pogo stick. I removed the overload spring and it was better than the factory ride. I have the Bilestein 5160's but I have been looking at the 8100's. The RXT leaf pack would seem like the place to start if I was searching for a better ride. I am not complaining about the ride right now at all, probably just looking for something to turn a wrench on.

Has anyone run the option 1 and then towed heavy from time to time? I locally tow a boat with a 450 pound tongue weight. Doesn’t make my stock springs sag badly at all. Any reason I should go option 2 all the time to support the boat trailer better? Am I overthinking this? Looking to install these with 5160s soon.

I maxed out the towing rating, about 6,000 pounds on the factory leafs with the 3 leaf add a leaf and over load removed. It was a long haul from Layton Utah to Blythe Ca, over hill over dale etc. It was riding low, very low by the time I got home. To my surprise, once I took the weight off it sprang back to life and has held up like a champ every since. That was about 30K miles or so ago. Mainly why I hesitate to make the change.

I started at option 2 and went down to option 1 after a few months. Sits a bit lower than I would like fully loaded, but I think it is worth it the rest of the time when unloaded.

I've run the Icon Add-a-leaf on the stock pack, and moved to the Icon RXT, and am now moving to the Deaver Stage 3.
This evolution is a result of adding more and more static load to the truck. With a topper shell, roof top tent, rear bumper with dual swing outs carrying fuel cans and a spare, I was maxing out the RXT's even at the heaviest load leaf inserted. She started to sag in the rear, and that was before I added actual gear in the bed. In hindsight, as with anything I've put on the Tacoma, one mod leads to the next and sometimes means I have to replace a previous upgrade to keep up!
Selling my RXT's soon, if anyone is interested PM me. I'd like to sell local to the Denver area.

I'm trying to figure out what the best route will be for me. I already wasted money with the mistake of going with the Icon 1.5 AAL and now my truck sags with just a Softopper. I'm looking for at least 1" of rake in the rear when empty (Softopper is like 25lb, it doesn't count) and no less than level when loaded up. I'm okay with giving up a little ride comfort to not sag. The RXT is appealing because of the price point and current availability, but I don't want to make another mistake and end up having to purchase the Deavers anyway.

My setup: I have a 2" lift up front running 6112s and 5160s w/ AAL in the rear. Bed is mostly empty with just a Softopper and maybe 50lb worth of crap most days. I load up around 600lb of motorcycle and equipment about 2-3 times a month. As far as armor goes, I don't really have plans past rock sliders in the near future.

Will the Icon RXT with option 2 suffice for my needs? Would loading it with 600lb of weight from time to time cause too much wear and tear and flatten the springs? I don't want to end up with a poopy diaper stance again when I'm unloaded. Would option 3 be overkill? Or should I just move on to Deavers now - and if so, stage 1 or 2?

I have Dclb option #2 6112’s same set up as you. I have about 2” of rake with about 100 lbs of constant weight. IMO I love the rake.

Thank you for your input. Sounds like RXT option 2 is the way to go.

what what length shock you go with? I’m wanting to do 2.5x14” but idk if rxt can handle it or if the leafs will be the limiting factor

nice! Thanks for info. Ima go with locked Offroad 2.5x 14” smooth body this year and probably gonna go with the archive shock relocation or make a upper tube shock mount since I have a pair of total chaos lower shock mounts. Big project lays ahead
