How's the eye relief on the Holosun vs. the Vortex? I have a Vortex and feel like I have to be right on top of it.

    Same crap everyone else got
I felt the same way. And wanting to run a rear BUIS, I wasn't able to get it moved far enough back on the receiver. Eye relief is the same basically but it's longer so it can mount in the same place but the eye piece can be further back hanging over my rear buis. That was the main reason I switched. Plus, I sold my micro for $230 and bought this for $130 so it also saved me $100 to accomplish my goal which was a huge driver in the decision. I'm pretty sure I can get the 3x one more slot back than I have in the pics.

Ideally like this guys set up

Listed my 11.5" URGI in the for sale thread if anyone is looking for an upper. No BCG/CH. 0 rounds through it. Going to keep the 14.5" Salient/KAC build.

Pssh. In real life I’m more worried about tethering gear. That said, for cable management, I’ve used duct tape, zip ties, ranger bands and cloud defense.

Ranger bands are easy, cloud defense is convenient for a price.

    Unsolicited point of view

I've ran several different variations and each has just ups and downs

Duct tape- residue issues after periods holds dirt turns to grime; quality duct tape will last quite awhile. Will wear out significantly quicker in dusty enviorments.

Electrical tape- similar as duct but easier to clean up and off. Uses tension more than stickiness but still attracts dirt grime.

Velcro- the sticky side see electrical tape

Personally I've been running baling wire galvanized 14 gauge and it works great. Small downsides are it can wear if the cables move or pressure pads are not carefully mounted. That being said, I've ran this setup since 2016 with phenomenal results.

Zip ties are a close second HOWEVER I run into a range of enviorments and after about 6 months of hot, cold, wet, dry, sun etc. The zip ties tend to break down. Look at UV protected ties (can be bought on the internet specifically for mounting)

Background is running setups of variations for 11 years and have personal preferences.
The reccomendations are also related to pressure pads as I carefully candy cane my wire with thin electrical for added protection and reinforcement, as well as angle my plugs accordingly for snag and break hazards.

Thinking about switching stocks on my 16” rifle. Currently have a Magpie CTR but have been eyeing the B5 SOPMOD. Anyone made the switch or running one that can provide input?

The B5 is what I run on all of my ARs. I like the nice fat cheek weld. I have an extra one if you're interested!

No comparison but I run the B5 on my 13.9 and the feel and cheek weld are great. Highly recommend.

Yup. Can't offer too many technical notes. It's just overall a much better experience. Comfy, locks up tight, etc. B5 is usually my go-to for builds.

Lol you bet your ass it did. It was growing on me, but I'll build out that 14.5" I'm getting today. Will probably regret it, but honestly I can always grab another down the road if I want it. The color looked great on it.

    Total Tacoma nOOb.
    I’m liking what I see.

A bit of a nOOb question and I know it’s a custom build but, how much do you have invested into it so far?

And if that wasn’t newbie enough for you, here’s another: Is there more maintenance because it’s a custom build?

Like our trucks, the more you replace OEM with Aftermarket parts...the more tinkering & maintenance is required.

I'll toss my name into the hat of people who like and prefer B5 stocks, particularly the Bravo. My #1 choice as well.

This is a little difficult to answer b/c it's gone through a lot of changes and things have been sold and bought so net cost is hard to figure but I'll give it a shot.
    Lower:
bcm blem factory lower with pnt trigger: 375. Sold the stock for 40 and grip for 17. Added sba3 brace w/ split fix (70). added pws castle nut system (25), armaspec srs h2 buffer system (45), radian talon ambi safety (40), magpul grip (15)

    Lower Total: $513ish

    Upper:
Started out as an androcorp 10.5 upper. (300). sold the barrel, rail, gas block for $200
Added BA 11.5 barrel (120), geissele gas block and tube (30) fail zero nib bcg (100), raptor CH (65), surefire sf3p (90), bcm mcmr 10in rail (140), dd front sight (45), kac rear(80), holosun 503g (120), reptila mount (60), holosun 3x mag(130), rail cover (20), karve hand stop (15), streamlight light and arisaka mount. ($100)

Upper Total with optics and sights $1215.
Upper Total for just upper, bcg, raptor ch, and sf3p. no accessories: $645

Of course there are cheaper ways to accomplish this and also more expensive way. Hope this helps a little if any haha.
This gun runs very well and eats everything you feed it..

edit: i didn't mention its previous form with different rail and muzzle device that was sold off as this is it's 3rd transformation.

2nd edit: all the prices listed are what I paid and were either on sale or bought 2nd hand. Some were great deals, some were okay deals but none were retail. Paying retail for all that will obviously increase the total.

If you like magpul stocks and also like the b5, the magpul SL stock is a good stock to look into also.
