Interesting that you guys are talking financing. I just got off the phone with a dealer (my wife is wanting a RAV4 hybrid..so we put a deposit down on an allocation) and he told me that for all incoming units, you have to finance through Toyota. Is that true?

From my CU 2.49 for 72 months so long as it comes in on the 25th (original ETA was the 11th). Pre-approval is good for 30 days from my CU

I'd have to call BS. From my salesman, they don't care who pays, so long as they are getting paid.

Have been told and read, the dealer gets some sort of kickback/benefit if you finance through toyota. May be that's why you were told this and sales just didn't bother to tell you they benefit from it.

I always deal with my credit union. Lowest rates and its just easy. I send a buyers order and they send a check. Dealer started with the "we don't accept bank checks" BS but we can get you a really good rate (credit score is 842). I told him he either matches my credit union or I flip the financing just a soon as its active. They will match and I will flip it anyway.

Been a bit of a bumpy ride, but my 2/4 build TRD OR has finally landed at the dealer here in CT. ETA shifted back and forth a few times but finally settled in around 4/12-4/14. I'll try to post some pics when I pick up the truck on Friday. Thanks to everyone on this thread for sharing information and making the wait time bearable.

The only time I am aware that you have to finance with Toyota is when utilizing incentives like the college or military rebate....

My Toyota dealer deals direct with my local credit union. 2.49% on anything 72 months or less via my CU.

Its not mandatory, however Toyota does want at least 60 to 65% of their new cars to be finance with them. If they do hit those numbers the dealer will be in good terms with Corporate and get better approvals plus kick backs. These numbers are monthly so if one month they dont hit their objective, Toyota is not happy and they usuallly call chew somebody and it rolls down hill, from the GM to the Sales Mgr to the sales floor. If it happens more than one month in a row, it gets worse Toyota pushes for more and that is when some dealers make it mandatory.

I wonder if dealers give allotment priority to customers who finance with Toyota. They know I'm planning on financing with my own bank instead of using them.

I ran out a few week 12 build temp VINs that were posted on here previously and one from a spec sheet my dealer sent me originally and they are all still listed as "A" and working. So I'm guessing they haven't been built yet. Doesn't look good for my week 13 built getting done next week.

I’m a week 12 and according to the dealer it was built as scheduled on 4/11 as far as they know. The temp vin still works and shows as A but I think that’s typical for a few days after the build. At least that’s what I’m hoping from others’ experiences.

Driving this bad boy off the lot felt amazing. The wait was almost the most fun part.

    2/5 deposit placed
    3/3 truck built
    4/13 delivery

thanks to everyone on this thread for helping me stay sane!
