Has anyone put different year or even different make like tundra leaf springs on their first gen? First gens have a horrible leaf spring design and I want a better ride. It’s pretty stiff.

Tundra's have a heavier payload capacity, which in turn would cause a stiffer ride (if they did fit).

What leaf pack are you running?

If you want great ride quality, your best bet is to buy a custom leaf pack through either Alcan or Deaver.

get deaver springs or dakars. I have a reg cab and tbh all trucks are a rough ride. I have dakars and greasable shackles, recommend it.

Is there a stock height option or do they only sell lift springs?

the design of the leaf spring eyes where the leaf springs bolt up on the truck are in a horrible position. I put new leaf springs on a little over a year ago and they looked flat when I put them on and they still are flat. They don’t have that arch they are suppose to have. Terrible design Toyota.

They won’t gain arch over time while in use. That’s like the old woodshop joke of cutting the board twice and still having it be too short. If they were flat after install they’re only gonna get flatter. I have no complaints with my Deaver J59 pack. No more axle wrap, doesn’t mind holding weight. Buy once cry once.

I don't know.. Seems like a pretty successful design to me- they've sold millions of trucks from 95 to 2004 with roughly the same design (I do recall that maybe 95-96.5?? have a spring hanger in a different location).

Just because you don't seem to like it with your non-OEM springs doesn't mean it's a terrible design- probably more that you should invest in decent springs.

i never said it’s going to gain arch over time. These were just a cheap replacement. I guess I’ll have to try some deavers. That’s what everyone keeps saying.

no I completely understand they’ve sold a ton of these. Doesn’t mean the design can’t be bad. The moment I put these springs on they were flat. Looked just like the old ones. That’s why I was going to replace them. And I replaced them with the same company springs my uncle did on his 92 and his look normal. They have the arch. So what does that mean then?? Possible bad design….

I don't really know what you're shooting for- but I think stock springs are fairly flat to begin with. I'd really hate for you to spend larger dollars on custom springs at stock height and get another "flat pack".

Anything can fit.... That's when I start to use my imagination.....

If OP want an unmatched ride quality, 3 or 4 link is the way to go :D. Hell, a t4r with coils ride better a tacoma with leaf, time to swap to a 4r rear suspension....

So you think the tundra leaf spring will be more soft and comfortable when the load capacity on first gen tundra is higher than first gen tacoma? Not sure where you're getting that info from.

I have a set of Deaver J59's. They hardly hold any weight and if you think it's going to be a nice, plush ride, think again. It's still going to be a bumpy ride. Our trucks are very light compared to a heavy Tundra. I recommend adding some weight in the bed.

Here's a couple of pics of the Deavers.
