Some more photos. I had a plan to hit a bunch of waterfalls but I couldn't find the trailhead to some of them and then started running out of time.

Do you have any recovery gear, like a winch or anything? Looks like a fun trip, but I don't have a winch or even tow ropes. I need to get some tow ropes soon.

I have a winch but I haven't put it on this truck yet. I had to use 4 low and the locker today at one spot and I used traction boards to get out of a hole my little 265 75 16 wouldn't climb. Do have pretty much all the essential recovery gear though. Straps, pulley, hi lift, etc. I haven't put the winch bumper on the truck yet because I'm trying to make a bracket to attach the light bar.

I'm definitely up for going back. I went up there looking for secluded waterfalls. My lady wants to do a marriage ceremony at one. So far we are liking white owl falls. Do you guys have any suggestions on spots?

My weekends are pretty much booked for the foreseeable future. That said, it isn't uncommon for something to fall through and we get a chance to go explore. I'm pretty sure the area he is talking about is fairly close to us, so I could potentially make it a day trip.

I guess you could say the closet town is mountain rest. It's between there and highland nc.

I need to plan a camping trip with my daughter. She's ready, or at least she says she is.... maybe 3rd weekend in April. I'll get with my wife to see what's going on that weekend.

It's a little further than north GA but this past weekend we went up horse pasture rd to lake jocassee. (Absolutely one of the prettiest lakes in the country. You can camp out there. If you haven't heard of it before the road to the lake and many of the off shoot trails are closed most of the year. It happens to be open the month of April though. So it's a small window to get out there to enjoy it.

Welcome. Buford is about 30-40 minutes. Up near the outlet malls by Dawsonville.

Hmm... Tempted to tag along. I think the third weekend is Easter, we usually have family dinner. Might can do something the weekend after. Wife and I haven't been out since we moved this past October. Building a garage /workshop/gym is taking a lot of our free time

Weekend after Easter is my best bet.

Also, if anyone is interested, my church is doing a service in conjunction with several others on the new greenway in Gainesville for Good Friday.

Food, activities and fun will begin at 5:00 until 6:30 pm. Our service will begin at 6:45 pm. Please bring a chair or blanket for the service.

Location: 682 Grove St, Gainesville, GA 30501

Religious discussions are generally frowned upon on the forum, so I'm doing nothing more than letting y'all know of an event. If you have any questions, PM me. I'm happy to answer any and all.

Heading up to Nemo Tunnel this weekend. Game plan is to camp Friday at the GA/TN line near Parksville Lake then visit the tunnel and nearby WMA and abandoned train Saturday. Looks like there is a vet owned brewery nearby, so we will be hitting that too. If anyones interested in joining let me know.

My weekend is already booked, but that sounds like a fun trip.

I was unable to find the abandoned train while we were there. Plenty of pictures online, but I have been unable to pinpoint its location. The tunnel was fun though. I could definitely spend more time exploring there.

We tried to get to the train in March and they had it blocked off, not sure if there’s another way in without driving through the creek. You can see the metal beam in front of my truck blocking the lot.

Thanks for the heads up! Rumor has it there is another access point via Windrock but I was hoping it would be accessible from 116 as we will not be hitting Windrock. Were the surrounding trails open? I think some were delayed due to weather. Hopefully the bar isn’t an indicator for permanent closure.
