My parents' house has two separate systems, but my room is not comfortable on really hot days unless I set the thermostat to like 67 degrees; My friend Patrick and his wife moved to Florida, and he just gave me a $500 portable A/C unit that he didn't need anymore, so that problem has been solved...

Anyway, so far the GoodShits...I mean Goodmans, at my parents' house have held up well; It is now six years since my parents bought this place new, and I have told my dad that he needs to get Carrier or Trane when the Goodmans die!

Jealous of your AC! Mine doesn't hold a charge for more than a couple days. Have had it into the shop twice but nobody has been able to figure out where it's going and now I'm out of warranty.

Few more weeks and I'll probably be replacing the compressor and condenser. Good news is that it's so empty I don't have to worry about polluting :D

I had to have the evaporator core replaced in my truck; It took over a year to find the source of the problem, but UV dye confirmed it was the evap core. Whenever my truck was low on refrigerant, it would blow ICE COLD out of the driver's side and warm out of the passenger side. My A/C never fully quit working, and unfortunately I don't think yours will hold a charge long enough to pinpoint the source of the leak, but I would not rule out the evap core.

especially so since all the remote work clowns are back in the office and now taking my parking space for the afternoon shift. :annoyed:

it will last a while, my unit is from 2008 and still going strong, I put a hard start cap in last season because every now and again the compressor would stall.

Thanks! This will be the first "big" trip since Covid hit for us. Riding down to Lorton, VA on the bike then taking the Amtrak auto train to Sanford, FL. Riding down to key West for Easter weekend then working our way home on the bike coming up the Atlantic coast visiting and photographing lighthouses. Should be an awesome experience.

When do you arrive in Sanford? We took the AutoTrain last Friday and got here to Orlando on Saturday. We head back on Saturday - load on Saturday and get to Lorton Sunday morning.

I'd suggest you get to the dining car early if you are riding coach. Popular items on the menu (which are all microwave heated) go fast...as does the Yuengling. :D

    Have a great trip!!!

Another fun - but long - day for us here in Orlando. Yesterday was Magic Kingdom and we stayed until the park closed at 11PM. Got home about 11:45 and then sat around talking until 1:30 AM.

Today is Epcot day. Or, as Lynn and I call it, Drinks Around the World Day.:thumbsup:

Tomorrow is a relative rest day before heading home on Saturday - planning on playing miniature golf and then spend some time at Disney Springs. Speaking of that, Lynn and I ate at an awesome place there the other night - City Works Tap and Pour House. We lucked out getting a seat outside (temps in the 70s). The place is across from the House of Blues who had outdoor music performers. Awesome...along with something like 90 beer selections. Great food, as well.

I believe schedule shows arrival in Sanford as 9:00 am Friday morning. We have a roomette which is what we got the last time we did this. They no longer include your meals? We traveled this way in 2019 and dinner and breakfast were both included in the price. We carry a soft sided cooler in the top box of the bike when we travel and we'll take that along to our room on the train so we'll have a bottle or two of wine along with us.

Sounds like you're having an awesome trip! Enjoy!

Sweet! We actually got a really killer deal this time which is what convinced us to go. Shortly before Christmas I got an email alerting me to a sale on the auto train for a short window of time. Had to book and pay for passage way in advance but it offered rates at 50% or more off. One way passage with the motorcycle and a roomette for the 2 of us for $353.00 was hard to turn down. We've never been to key West before so really looking forward to it.
