This part is wrong. Pull the spring off and set the rubber onto the spring so its all flat, the top hat might be turned wrong on there too as it has to go on a certain way.

The top hat is completely flat on the bottom and is oriented the same way as it was from the factory, so I don’t think that’s it. The spring itself isn’t compressing flat or something like the OEM springs do. Do you happen to have a pic showing the correct assembly - would love to show it to the off-road shop who assembled them for me!

I dont have any pictures, but mine is also 2017 suspension. But looking at the eibach spring thread there are a few 2020-2021 trucks in the last few pages with pictures.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-in-a-spring-upgrade-for-front.643212/page-80

But the spring wont compress from putting on the top hat, it should sit flat right when bolted on so something is not lined up right.

Thank you guys for the responses. Really frustrating after paying a shop $150 to assemble them. Now I have to likely pay them again. If all else fails I’ll just reinstall the stock springs and sell these off (now that they are all beat up). :annoyed:

One can hope! Will see if the Eibach support guy responds. Man I hope I didn’t jack these shocks up.

I doubt there is any damage, I think the rubber pad is just on wrong.

I thought that but we even disassembled them again to make sure the “impression” in the rubber made by the factory springs was in the same orientation on the Eibach springs. Where the spring ends there is a lower spot on the rubber so that’s what we checked. Even so… new rubber is the same thickness everywhere, so it seems impossible to mess up the install. I’ve definitely been wrong before…

So not sure if it applies to the 2020 shocks, but when I did mine the rubber part I had to install on the hat first to get it pressed into the grooves. When I tried to put the pad on the spring first it just didnt fit right.

FWIW mine looked like that as well after I had a shop install the springs. Didn't notice it until I got them back to my house to reinstall the shocks -- thought it was odd but similar to what you said there was no other orientation that would fix it. The springs were definitely installed correct side up and I just assumed it was because the new springs may need to settle into the rubber pad / don't line up exactly with the old springs indentation.

Decided to go forward with it since this is my only vehicle and had work the next day -- didn't have any issues with reinstallation and alignment was fine, have ~1K miles with no problems but interested to hear what Eibach says about this.

Edit: just went out and took a picture of what it looks like installed, I think it fixes itself once installed but again, would like to hear what Eibach says or if others have seen the same thing.

Either your spring is upside down, or you have wrong spring. The flat portion of the spring needs to go on top, and the pig tail goes on bottom.

    The 2020-2021 springs don’t have a flat portion. They aren’t upside down…

Do you understand what I'm saying though? The top portion of the spring needs to be flat, yours is not.

I understand and wish they would have designed it that way. However The spring is already bunched up. Coilover assembled. How could I get it to lay more flat?

2020-2022 springs are not ground flat, 2017-2019 springs were. He has the springs on right, its just the rubber isolator thats messed up

Yeah they're on with the correct up-down orientation.

    Bottom end is open:

    Top is tack welded:

Maybe get the end of the coil out from being directly under a top hat bolt?

So do what skeltron said. The edge of the top hat bolt is just barely on top of the spring edge. Looks like its making it tilt over. Move the bolt directly and fully on top of the spring end. Either that or the isolator is different. Is that isolator/top hat OEM?
