Or design and build them without built in water traps that promote rust.

    Just a random thought.

If they are made right, you don't have to coat them. My wife's 2007 Highlander hasn't had the trailer hitch or spare tire fall off.

We got our steel for the crawler from Cohen Steel Supply in Concord. Their pricing was great, very consumer oriented, and they have a scrap pile you can pick through which we loved!

Gotta remember that steel pricing is absurd.

    I picked up 2x 4'x4' .25" plates, 2x 4' 2"x2"x.5" square tube, and 2x 4' 3"x3.5"x.25" angles a couple of weeks ago and it cost me nearly $800.

Yeah I get the market is still messed up. I still think $20/ft for 1 3/4 x .120 wall round tube is wayyyyy too much.

    Not really.

    Hell, we paid $300-ish for a 4x8 3/16" sheet.

Who's the fucktard that comes up with the dollar limits for fuel pumps? Had one today that stops at $75, most others are $100. All well and good when fuel is $3/gallon but just obnoxious when we're at $5! Just adds insult to injury when prices are already stupid high... /rant

They plugged up a bunch of holes of different sizes in the front and rear of the frame. Nothing in the middle. Whatever they put in there is still wet and dripping today. I hate having someone else work on my truck and not know what they did or messed with. I’ll crawl under tomorrow and check it out better and take some photos.

I have a missing plug, at least one. Any idea where I can source cheap replacements? I was thinking I can wool wax it again then seal it

Here’s some pics of the work that was done. It looks like they pulled the splash guards in the front wheel wells put in some plugs and squirted in there. They sprayed inside the cab mounts. There is a big wedge shaped plastic plug they added on the inside of the frame rail. That new silver bolt you can see on the outside rail is bolting it in place. They had to pull the brake lines out to put that in. Looks like they broke one of the brake line clips. The sealant was put along all of the seams of the frame from the cab mounts to the front leaf springs mounts. There is one plug added a little in front of the leaf spring mount that I’m not even sure what it’s doing, nothing on the inside. Overall it looks nasty and I don’t see how this helps much.

So... according to Toyota, Elmers glue is the solution to stopping rust in it's tracks! You heard it here first, folks

I don’t get why they aren’t also coating the rest of the frame with something. All they did was put a bead of glue along certain seams but there’s tons of rust on all the welds and around all the other openings they did nothing to.
