Hell yeah, maybe add a small triangle gusset in the corner or under for sheer strength?

 

This is pretty much what I could do w the material I have and not cutting off the arm I just welded. It’s actually kinda clean looking. Once I cut and round off past the joints. I will have adjustment until I weld too. Would have like to keep the steering under w the tie rod but whatever.

 

I have 4 gussets I bought just in case. When I find the angle I like and weld, I’ll prob throw them in somewhere or just put a plate in front.

 

Obviously this is super preliminary but can anyone tell me if the separation between steering and trac is too much? Is it more important that they run on the same plane or same angle?

 

No idea. @81Trekker or @WarFab Armor might know as fabricators themselves.

 

I tried to get them as close to the same angle and length as I could. Ended up with the same angle. Panhard is about an inch shorter. In my research I didn’t see anything about them being the same plane. Just that full hydro/no mechanical steering you want the panhard as flat as possible

 

@malburg114 does this seem like a better option if I more the trac mount a little to clear at full bump?? Moved steering back to original spot.

Looks good in the pictures. Does it clear when cycling? Throw an angle finder on one and zero it and then throw it on the other.

 

Unfortunately i can’t do shit until I get my ball joints back in. Have them clamped on. Can’t even full steer it. They are not gonna be here til Monday. Just trying to do what I can til then.

What angle did you end up with on your knuckles?

 

Caster I set at 7.5 degrees. My pinion angle is 7.5. I just read online what people liked for caster and it ranged from 2-15 degrees so I just picked something in the middle. I’m using cvs on the driveshafts so just pointed the third at the tcase.

 

Surprisingly I’m getting about 5” of height at the hubs with the temp rig I have and existing pan. I’m still at 23” frame height. The upper link looks like it will squeeze in also. Just have to cycle the steering at full up. Otherwise, I’m feeling a little bit of optimism.

 

Almost got a cheap local Dana 300 but they are pass drop and everyone says it’s a nightmare to reverse them.

 

I’m so sick of converting transmissions! Had to cut the trans input and t case. Both in to stay I hope.

 

Got the inside plates half welded so I can move screw jacks to front. Hopefully I don’t have to move them like every other thing I’ve welded to the frame.

 

Finally got to size up a tire. Just waiting on dom and the front should be wrapped up soon.

I ended up using an np261hd cause it was free and I’m too broke to get into an atlas right now. What is a 205 beast? I have an nv4500 trans here that is the heaviest damn trans I’ve ever dealt with. Takes 2 people to put on a dolly!

 

205 is an all gear cast iron transfer case, it would handle anything most any big block could ever toss at it unless it was blown.

 

Damn. Cast iron weighs a ton! Gear drive is nice! This 261 is a shit chain drive.
