I've done a lot of camping with dogs and would recommend keeping the dog with you when you sleep. Once the sun goes down in the woods my dogs go into high-alert with all sorts of little noises setting them off. Leaving the dog alone in that circumstance may increase their anxiety and drive to chew things up. If they can be with you in the tent (I've only ever used a ground tent) it will go a long way to making them feel more safe and secure. Just my opinion. Good luck on your trip!

    Yeah.
I agree with Skeletron there, keep her with you. I have a 42 lb. Shiba that has explored with me since he was 9 months old, and I carry him up into the tent with me. I put him under one arm and use the other to climb, and I am not a youngster anymore. He loves the RTT. Just make sure you take them to do their business before heading to bed so they can make it all night.

Thanks for the input. It is what I thought, as far as keeping her with me. It's the changing of logistics that will take some doing. I'm hoping the chewing will slow once her teeth are all in. Which should be soon.

That looks to be about the same size tent and dog. My concern about the RTT is her having enough room to get up, do her business where she isn't sleeping, and then going back to sleep. And I'm a solid sleeper. Not much wakes me up. It's also a change from what we do at home. She sleeps in her crate in my office without issue, not with us. Maybe I'll have to give it a driveway try to see how she reacts to being up there.

Probably teething. But that doesn't mean she'll stop chewing. Many here know that I am a huge crate fan. When Riley was young, I kept him in his crate. As he got older and more trustworthy, I would leave him in the cab or bed of the truck (I have a shell). Only a few times did I put him in the RTT--he wasn't a happy camper there but at 100#, not a lot of room to stretch out.
Not sure where he was the most comfortable, he was a wanderer and would move around a lot--get up, shake, plunk back down--everyone pays for that :D

I'm not sure about Kimo yet. My guess is same thing. Crate, back seat. Back of the truck.

Tessa shouldn't get more the 40 lbs based on parents. She's 50/50 on sleeping curled up or stretched out. She does both in the crate and on her "pillow" in the office. I'm potentially going to overnight weekend after next. Her first time out, about two hours from home. As for the chewing, time will tell. I keep her well stocked on stuff to chew on, so it hasn't been a big issue. A little apple bitter spray helps as well.

Picked up Tessa from Doggy day care and had her weighed on the way out. 6 months old, 37 pounds. She put on 6 pounds in the last month. Her estimated weight was 40-45, so we'll see how this pans out.
