I’m not big on pocket knives cause razor knives are so easy to change blades but that thing is really cool. Love that color! Looks way better than the stock boring silver one! Let me know how the blade does cutting cardboard!

Needing some advice, in your all opinions would you wait for the head gasket to go or would go ahead and bite the built and replace it? Additionally if I were to “wait” for the head gasket to fail, what kind of damage could I expect worst case to best case scenario?

I plan on doing the work myself.. my 2002 Tacoma 3.4 DC 4x4 only has 100k on it.. big believer in predicative maintenance and I would rather have the truck down on my time versus driving down the road and it going… I’m not the most mechanical person, but I can read instructions and turn wrenches.. a part of the reason I bought this truck was I love working on projects that challenge me. Thank you for any reply’s.

At 100K, do the timing belt, water pump, etc on the front of the engine and revisit this question in another 100K.

Just my opinion. BTW, my 3.4 has 261K and I'm not touching it.

What makes you suspect that the head gasket will fail soon
The 3.4 isnt known for head gasket issues unlike its 3.0 brother

I have no real suspicions of potential failure outside of the fact that it’s a 20 year old vehicle…

Appreciate the reply and all those projects have been tackled, including a new tensioner (OEM), pulley (OEM), thermostat etc (OEM), belts (OEM), radiator (OEM), and fan clutch (OEM). And last weekend I finished replacing the head cover gasket (OEM), spark plugs (OEM), and wiring (OEM).

I’ve been super busy lately, but it sounds like you finally got your keys to the new place.

    Congrats, man!
